What Guests Are Saying
Rockhaven Park Campground and Equestrian Area offers clean facilities, hot showers, and well-kept campsites, making it a pleasant destination for campers and equestrians alike. Many appreciate the spacious sites and well-marked trails, although some trails require maintenance and are currently affected by flooding. Concerns have been raised about non-equestrian campers using designated horse sites, which could impact the safety and experience for horseback riders.

Very nice campground. I was tent camping over in the 5 sites, very clean and quiet. Showers were push button start, but plenty of water,

Great horse camp and trails. Nice pens for the horses. Sites are electric only, but water is not too far away. There are also some primitive sites (no electric or water).

Rockhaven Equestrian camp is excellently laid out for horse camping. The horse pens, level camps and electricity are wonderful. The refuse station, for both horse and people is nice. The camp host friendly and welcoming. The access to trails is nice, with trail markings easy to follow.
Improvements:
Water to be at each campsite with the electricity would be wonderful
Additional refuse sites at all the corners of the grounds, (3 additional)
Dump station at campground
Non-horse campers to be re-directed to the camps for non-equestrians. Never is a horse camper allowed at any non-horse campground. While use of parks is important, the same "Overflow" situation could be allowed at non-equestrian camps. We are only asking for the same amenitites that the multitude of campgrounds currently have. (Mark Twain camp in NE Mo. Non-Equestrian campground with around 100 sites had water and electric at each site plus a dump station, they were currently adding sewer at each campsite. The equestrian campground had 7, yup seven sites, no water at site and no dump station. Horse campers spend more money on trucks, living quarter trailers, then the horse, tack and all items required to camp with horses. We pay the same taxes for fewer camps with less amenities. Why is that? Even parks with horse trails and campgrounds, don't have horse camping. (Park near Trenton, MO) PLEASE, help us! Thank you for your work and consideration of this request. Your loyal camper.

The weather didn’t cooperate but I have no complaints about the campground and facilities. Multiple water hydrants have been added. Also a set of covered corrals. We kept our horses there and they were happy to be out of the rain with a nice breeze. This is really a great equine campground. Lots of trails to ride, but check first if it’s been raining heavily because they may be closed if too muddy. Don’t forget the fly spray for your horse and bug spray for you. Maybe it was the unusual wet spring but the ticks were bad.

Beautiful campground and trails. Challenging terrain but not dangerously so. Appreciate the corrals being well-maintained and close to campsites, with attention to shade and water for horses. Would be nice to have water available at campsites for campers, and dump station nearby. Camp host was extremely friendly and helpful and experienced campers were helpful in sharing tips and trail guide information. Appreciate the trails being dedicated to walkers and horses versus open to bikes - this is a big plus and we will be back with friends!

When we arrived at the horse camp the horse pens had not been cleaned at all. There was horse manure in many places throughout the camp site, It was as if the previous campers let their horses roam and made no attempt to clean where the horses deficated. It would be greatly appreciated if the park ranger could do a drive through on the day people are leaving and insure they leave the pens clean or receive a ticket that has some consequence. Either a fine or not allowed to use the campsite for a period of time.
