Great place to camp. No problems, except we were attacked by a dog. The dog was at Site 35 on the evening of June 11th. The dog came at my dog and I dragging his chain. I was almost knocked down and my dog was bitten slightly. The owner intervened and apologized. Park needs to watch this type of problem.

Lots are big, lots of trees, there’s a beautiful hidden scout reserve at the end of the road with a nice park. Clean bathrooms, very friendly and knowledgeable attendant ( camp host) . We stayed on our way to Iowa then again on our way back. Had 2 grands with us and felt very safe.

Outlet Park at Melvern is our favorite local lake/campground. We took our grandkids for the second time. It's the perfect place for kids. Lots of close bike/walking trails that aren't miles long. Some wooded paths and some through open areas, some paved and some gravel. One beautiful trail runs along a little peaceful, small river which is fed by the outlet from the lake. Two playgrounds, a beach, and the lake marina where we rented a pontoon boat and a big float to pull behind.
We have stayed at the campground many times. It is beautiful and well maintained. One of the best I've seen. Staff are all friendly and frequently patrol. We've never had trouble with noise or partiers. People are polite and friendly.
Our favorite loop is C. Lots of shade, and nice shower house/bathroom. Close access to trails and there is a trail that runs all along the outlet lake easily accessible from any sight. I'd give Melvern 10 stars if I could!

We love camping at this campground and have camped here for years. However, on our last trip our neighbors kept their dog off leash most of the weekend. Although the dog stayed in their campsite most of the time, the last morning we were there we were outside cooking breakfast with our dog tethered in our campsite when their dog wandered into our campsite. Our dog who we always keep leashed became upset and started growling which prompted the neighbors’ dog to attack our dog. It was horrible! Luckily we were able to get the dogs apart, and our dog will be all right. We would like to recommend that some large signage be put up where all campers can see it about keeping dogs leashed or in campers at all times. Campers claim that they don’t always know this rule, and signage clearly posted would assure that everyone would know the rule and hopefully incidents like this wouldn’t happen again.

What a great park. Lots of trees, nice paths and the maintenance people Curtis and Brenda are the greatest care takers ever. They go out of their way to help people and are so very friendly My only complaint is that the lots are hard to get for more than three days because of people reserving 2 and 4 weeks at a time the later cancel all but the week ends. The 2 weeks a month are not enforced as some use two different emails to log almost full time occupancy. We love the place and want to go several time this summer but it is a challenge trying to get around these 2 unfair practices of others. I am referring to section C with these comments.
