We always have such a great time when we camp at wax. It's actually our favorite place to camp. There isn't any parting going on like some camp grounds. It's a very family friendly place. The host at the campground are very friendly and helpful. I recommend this campground to anyone.

Great campground. I couldn't find a good entry point for swimming without navigating giant slippery rocks @ Wax but Dog Creek, up the road a bit has a nice shoreline and an unmonitored swimming beach. Well spaced and oriented sites, nice rangers and fun all around.

We love camping at Wax! Everyone is so friendly. The bathrooms and shower house is always clean. They have nice hot water. The campgrounds gets patrolled by the sheriff and park rangers.

As for the camping and site was good but had to move to a primitive site because our site was booked for Friday and Saturday which every site in all campgrounds are so you can’t book for week and weekend. Which I was wanting to do, sad..Also had a run in with a very very rude Park Ranger by the name of Darren Smith, everyone in whole campground said he was very rude..Was not polite at all. As for Grayson Co Sheriff department was very polite.

We were at Wax for 3 days with our RV group. As usual, the road from Upton to the campground is narrow making it interesting for RV’s & Travel Trailers to maneuver. We have a 31’ Class C and were in Loop A, spots A14 2 nights & moved to A12 for one night. We had a nice flat spot at both sites. A14 we had a nice somewhat obstructed view of the lake, A12, the lake was directly behind us, literally steps away. We enjoyed watching campers fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming & even tying up their pontoons at the banks of the lake, below our campsite. Sites are very close together, yet the way most are arranged, we felt less exposed than other campgrounds. Bath house was clean & seemed to be well cared for. There was a problem with the water spigot & they repaired ASAP, done in 30 mins or less. Wax Marina is literally across the road from the campground entrance. You can rent a boat, pontoon, etc. or bring your own. We have AT&T cell service. Signal was pretty much non-existent. We would get 1 bar or less, it came & went. Most of our visit we had NO service until we were out on the lake. We had someone in our group that had Verizon & they had service the entire time. It was a great experience, being able to camp so close to the lake. We will definitely be back!

My family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children) had a horrible time at wax campground. We stayed at the C area. When we set up camp the kids wanted to swim. We had a hard time getting in the water because of people camping near the water didn't want us to enter near their camp to get to the water and we couldn't find the beach are, even after asking several people. Then there was a horrible dead animal smell that we later found out was a dead dear decomposing behind the restroom. There we're other issues as well. We finally got up and left at 4am
