What Guests Are Saying
Canal Campground is highly praised for its spacious and clean sites, friendly hosts, and beautiful surroundings, making it a favorite among campers. Visitors enjoy the quiet atmosphere, well-maintained facilities, and opportunities for outdoor activities like fishing and biking. While some noted minor issues like dated showers and occasional noise from golf carts, the overall experience remains positive, with many planning to return.

The camp is clean and generally quiet. My recommendation is that everyone should have to confirm their reservations....too many reserving sites and not showing up when they are supposed to and there are other people who would like to have those sites. Also, recommend after campground opens that people on site handle the reservations.

Great campground with lots of wide, wooded campsites and a friendly, helpful staff. Clearly popular with the locals since it was packed mid-week. Even though it was fairly full, it didn’t seem cramped or crowded. The facilities were clean and functional, with lots of water activities for the whole family. We would highly recommend Canal Campground.

We love Canal. We got a site on the water this time and really enjoyed the view. We always go to the Elk and Bison range while at Ky Lake. Patties Settlement and the Willow Pond are two restaurants we go to.

We really loved our stay at Canal! It was a last minute decision and we lucked out with a site right on the lake. The campground was clean, the people were very friendly, and the sites were nice. Decent space between lots, well designed and easy to back into, good size pads, great views and the overall vibe was very relaxed and quiet while we were there. We were on the hill loop and the bath house was a little bit of a walk, be aware if that is important to you. I’m not big on touristy type things, but if you get a chance, go eat at Patti’s, or get an ice cream treat from Craig’s. And a big surprise was the food at Kentucky Shores amusement park. We heard about it from a local. These folks used to have a food truck. The dining area will fool you, as it looks like a tiny concession stand. The food was amazing and the owners were incredibly nice and gracious.
We have been coming to LBL the last few years, but this was our first stay at Canal. It is now going to be our go-to campground when we are in the area.
A side note, certain times of year the May-flies are out in Force on the lake, (late May, I believe). Fortunately, we have a screened area on our camper -they would have been a big pain if we hadn’t had it. I believe they are seasonal though. The campground is one of the best we’ve been to, even with the bugs. It’s nature!

The campground is conveniently located very near Grand Rivers, Ky. And it’s right on the water with a boat ramp and courtesy dock. The facilities were all working, sites seems well maintained, and bath houses were clean. Ranger was very visible which we appreciated. Site 6 was awesome! If we could have changed anything it would have been to make the fire ring moveable, but that’s a little detail in an overall great stay. Watch for turtles! Go to Patti’s! Eat at Cabin Pizza!

We love the Canal Campground. Short distance to Paducah and love driving around the lakes.
