What Guests Are Saying
Axtel campground is praised for its beautiful location, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, particularly Vickie, who ensures a pleasant experience for visitors. Many families enjoy the quiet atmosphere, spacious campsites with easy access to water activities, and a welcoming community of fellow campers. However, some guests noted issues such as low water levels, closed restrooms, and occasional noise, but these did not significantly detract from the overall positive experiences reported.

Shores were horrible with rocks, water was muddy, beach was very small because of water issue. There were too many people at sights, cars & trailers parked in grass, tents in grass and backed up to our camper, bathrooms not tended to enough so that they ran out of toilet paper. Overall just very poor experience. Will not be back

The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Thr same hair in the shower stalls that was there when we were there 2 weeks ago. Nasty used baby wipes on the floor, bugs everywhere. It's like they haven't ever cleaned them only replaced the toilet paper.
Also the wait to get in to the park was longer than in Yeats past. Almost as of the gate keeper does not know what to do.

This is a nice clean campground but this years low lake level made it difficult to fish coves and the debris in the lake is bad. Bathrooms not kept up as in previous years paint peeling of the walls in showers witch got in the drain and on your feet no hand soap in dispensers this year first week no toilet paper in disabled toilet. The spaces are nice and accessible camp hosts very nice. Internet hotspots have problems with internet connectivity even with good wi-fi connections. They just need more bandwidth to cover the campground area. AT&T has little or no connectivity.

I thought the camp host were a little strict
. They would not let somebody come in just to drop their stuff off at the camper and then take it right back out. You would think they were policemen
.

Nice campground sites on beautiful lake. Very hilly. Bathroom at top of hill is old, but kept pretty clean. Did not like listening to all the gas-powered golf carts zooming around - too loud. Was surprised since many parks don't allow gas-powered carts, only battery-powered.

While the campground is clean and kept controlled I find it ridicules that one of the bathrooms remain closed solely to save the cost of cleaning it. This is the second year in a row that we have to to walk 1/4 mile just to use the restroom facilities

The water is way down due to work on the dam. If you are into water sports, you may be disappointed. Fishing is decent from the bank.
