What Guests Are Saying
Axtel campground is praised for its beautiful location, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, particularly Vickie, who ensures a pleasant experience for visitors. Many families enjoy the quiet atmosphere, spacious campsites with easy access to water activities, and a welcoming community of fellow campers. However, some guests noted issues such as low water levels, closed restrooms, and occasional noise, but these did not significantly detract from the overall positive experiences reported.

Axtel is located close to a number of interest nearby. Besides the beautiful shoreline of Rough River Lake nearby, there is the boat arena, the Lodge restaurant and its activities, nearby hardware and restaurants, and if you are a golfer, there is "Falls of Rough Golf," a beautiful 18 hole, Par 5 course. There is also the historic Old Mill and Bridge at Falls of Rough. Children can enjoy the beach, bicycling and hiking, or other family activities such as tent camping, cornhole and fishing off the banks of the Lake as well as by boating. Or you can build you a fire at a campsite, lay back, enjoy and take in the leisure and beauty of it all.

We always enjoy our visits to Axtel campground at Rough River. This visit didnt start off very well at all. When we arrived at our site there had been some work done to the water and/or electrical hookup. There was ALOT of mud left all over the pavement of our site. I had to get the broom that is for the inside of our camper and sweep the mud off (basically ruining the broom) just so that my husband could get the camper unhooked and leveled. After that we set most everything up and enjoyed the rest of the weekend visit. Although we were not very happy campers in the beginning, we will not let that ruin our return again next season!!!!!!

Trash all over my campsite with both hosts in the booth and not one of them cleaned up after the last people.
