What Guests Are Saying
Axtel campground is praised for its beautiful location, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, particularly Vickie, who ensures a pleasant experience for visitors. Many families enjoy the quiet atmosphere, spacious campsites with easy access to water activities, and a welcoming community of fellow campers. However, some guests noted issues such as low water levels, closed restrooms, and occasional noise, but these did not significantly detract from the overall positive experiences reported.

The campground is very nice and the lake is beautiful. I’m not a negative person and don’t ever usually leave reviews or make comments but the only thing that is not enjoyable about this campground are the current attendants. Being helpful and courteous is what you would expect from the attendants from a state campground like this and that it would seem to be enjoyable to them to be working there but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

Fall is a beautiful time for camping. The leaves were beginning to turn, and always fairly decent weather.

Weather good. Camping sites too close together. Fishing not good. Hospitality, lacking at best.

Very peaceful and relaxing. Really enjoyable experience. Campground is well maintained. Great restaurants nearby - our favorite is Little Dave's. Friendly people - excellent help from couple at entrance booth. Falls of Rough a great place to visit. Already planning next year's camping.
