Over all, a decent trip. Unfortunately multiple sections of the campground trails were so overgrown as to be impassable, but the rest of the facility was well maintained.

The sites in sections H& J are really nice. Wooded and shady. We saw lots of wildlife. Visited the hatchery and visitor center. Very peaceful!

We stayed two nights on our way back to VA. We were very disappointed in the overall apperance of the park. It has a "worn" feel. Our site was ok but just the tall grass and weeds needed attention. Did not use the bath houses so cannot comment. Rode through all loops and went to beach area and overall felt the park needs some TLC. We would not return if were in the area.

We reserved two camp sites, H-2 and H-3 because our friends wanted to camp as well. Site H-3 was labeled as a double lot, but I didn't see where two campers could stay on one lot, so we reserved H-2 as well. Both sites were very level and easy to access. My complaint is, we noticed camp site H-4 (single lot) had multiple campers in it and well over 10 occupants staying there with two campers, and a boat on the site. Are multiple campers permitted on one site? Site H-4 is not listed as a double site. One other issue we experienced, we went out early one morning to get supplies and when we came back we had to set in a line (for about 45 minutes) of vehicles (around 50) at the check-in booth to access the campground. The line of vehicles were waiting for the beach to open (10:00am) is what we were told after we were able to finally move past the check-in booth. Can you have a separate lane, that can hold over 50 vehicles, for traffic waiting to access the beach near the check-in booth? There was no way to pass the waiting vehicles even if we knew they were waiting for the beach, due to the road is only two lanes in/out traffic. There needs to be a waiting lane for beach traffic. Love the multiple dump station lanes. The check-in booth staff were very friendly and informative.

We have stayed here for years and normally don’t have this problem, but the restrooms were not cleaned very often and were frequently out of soap or toilet paper.
