I love the Zilpo area, but it’s sad to see how much the government has let it run down. Be aware that not all bath houses have showers. I used the shower in my camper, but there were 3 families on 3 sites and everyone had to drive to find a shower on other loops. The sites are very short so check size if you have a large camper. The water spigots leaked making it hard to fill your tanks. We were over run with tiny ticks so prepare. All 3 of us got ants in our campers and the other 2 got mice in theirs. The bugs were also so bad that we couldn’t have lights on at all. The paths leading to the lake have grown up. I just wish they would upgrade the electric to 50 amps on sites and put in more electric sites. There was no cell service in most loops. The best thing about it was how nice and quiet it was. Most of the week we were the only 3 in our loop so the kids had a great time running around. The beach is mostly rocks. The dump station had great pressure. The hosts were friendly and helpful.

Our first time at the campground. We stayed in H-18, with a view of the lake through the trees. We believe this campground is one of the more beautiful places we have camped in terms of green lush trees, lake, clean campgrounds, etc. There were two bathhouses in loop H with urinals, flush toilets, and showers. The showers are free. There are two RV dump stations. One is 100 yds past the park fee station/entrance. The other one is between Loop F and Loop G. The dump stations have potable water and non-potable water stations and two sewer ports. Staff keep the restrooms very clean, but the floors need repainted and the air dryers are rusting.. The campsites have are well maintained and have an asphalt pad for the RV and gravel overlaying the rest of the dirt site, with one or two picnic tables. The park doesn't want anyone nailing or hanging things on the trees, so one or two metal staffs with hooks are provided. I saw two clean water spigots in the loop to fill containers with fresh water. The lake has blue gill, bass and muskelunge fish. We have Verizon cellular and always had a bar or two. Crazy but Salt Lick was terrible cellular coverage but the campground was good. We could do what we needed with phones and iPads. Our only issue with the area is ticks! Almost everyone in our party of six got a tick or two on them. Overall we had a great time, extending our stay by one day (9 nights overall) in June, 2022. Check it out!

Watch your kids while they are riding their bikes. People have no respect for the kids playing. They drive through the campgrounds like it’s a race track. No one says anything. The place needs some maintenance and mowing done as well, especially around the store and the picnic area around by the beach. Bath houses need to be cleaned & updated.
Twin Knobs is definitely more kept and enforce the rules better. When children are telling cars to slow down then you know it’s an issue.

Beautiful location with very well maintained sites and a friendly and helpful camp host. The restroom and shower facilities are a bit tired, but they were clean and functional. Looking forward to another visit soon!
