What Guests Are Saying
Zilpo Campground offers beautiful, secluded sites with excellent access to the lake, making it a great destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The campground is well-maintained, with clean restrooms and friendly staff, although some services like water access and store items may be limited. While noise from other campers can be an issue, many visitors appreciate the serene environment and recommend Zilpo for its scenic beauty and enjoyable activities.

Sleeping cabin was shabby, with broken blinds, trash from previous guests left behind.
Park was quite and the sites was spacious. Check in and out process was easy.

We have been coming to Zilpo for over 30 years now. Last couple of trips and several others this year we have felt like we were at a boot camp. We get it, there are rules. But when they treat you like you are always up to no good it starts to make one wonder why we continue to come. We have our boat and our camper stored there every year and we love the convenience. But this year and the one before the hawking over everything has gotten quite bothersome. We had 2 friends visit on our last camping trip and as they were leaving (around 11pm) they were stopped by an employee and told they weren’t supposed to be there at all. I find this VERY disturbing that local friends can’t come by to visit with us on a camp site we paid for. Never had an issue before. We love Zilpo but are considering finding somewhere else to go. Even if it means to stop coming to Cave Run interiorly. The past 2 years have been very disappointing. Camping is about friends and family and we are now just embarrassed to invite people to join us at a place we love and have bragged about to friends and family for years. Now we tell people not to bother camping here due to the harsh rules and employees on site. The rules about the boat dock and the beach area by the boat dock have changed this year also and are very disappointed. Thank you

Beautiful campground - nice spacing between sites. There are some hanging posts to help with creating a clothes line and or to hang items as needed (others used for lighting). This campground seemed really large, and was off the beaten path so could enjoy the quiet.

Campsites were spacious, clean, and somewhat secluded. Restrooms on our loop (H) were about what you would expect at a campground. Not great, but acceptable.

A private, out-of-the-way place with great access to Cave Run Lake. This is far from any amenities, so forget nothing. The sites feel private, and the lake is amazing. Can be a bit of a hike to a bathhouse depending on where you stay.

Staff are not friendly. I was yelled at to, “slow down“ while driving 9 mph in a 10 mph zone. The loop our campsite was on had no showers, and the showers were closed in the loop next to us. I had to literally drive all the way across the campground to shower. One night, as I was driving back from the showers I took a wrong turn. The roads are poorly marked, and it was hard to see at night. I immediately got road blocked by the security staff Gestapo. Even though I explained that I could not see, he felt that harassment was his best course of action to remedy the situation. One of the worst places I ever camped. Forget about it..
