What Guests Are Saying
Zilpo Campground is praised for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and friendly camp hosts, making it a favorite for many long-time visitors. While some amenities, such as hot water availability and maintenance support, have declined, most campers still enjoy the private, serene sites and the access to outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. However, issues like noise from other campers and limited store supplies have been noted, highlighting areas for improvement.

We normally stay at Twin Knobs but with the economy the way it has been and everyone wanting to go the cheaper route for vacation, we have had to stay at Zilpo. It’s beautiful there but the state doesn’t pay as much attention to that side and the bathrooms are horrible, some of the host are just awful. Now when my family has stayed before the hosts use to keep the bathrooms clean, I don’t know how they do it now but the past two times we have stayed whoever cleans them now, well let’s just say a 2 yr old could do better. We stayed in the F loop the past 2 times so needless to say I won’t be staying in that loop anymore and if I can help it I won’t be stay at Zilpo.. We rented the cabin in that loop and they said “it was just cleaned” when we got there. I had to re-sweep the floors and wipe everything down cause it was awful! Its like they just went in and sprayed Pine-Sol everywhere and that’s it. I even had to clean the air filter cause it wasn’t blowing out cool air!! It was about 2 inches thick with dirt!! The cabin says no pets allowed and no smoking but whoever stayed before us let’s just say they had pets and smoked. They did not even wipe the windows off and there was still ketchup and sticky stuff all over the front door window!! So I will find a different loop or try my best to book way ahead of time to stay at Twin Knobs. They have beautiful spots at Zilpo if the state would just but forth the extra effort on the Zilpo side that they do on the Twin Knob side!!

The toilets need an easier method to flush. I was camped across from one facility and made it a practice to check for unflushed toilets. I understand children would have a problem, but it amazes me that adults don't tend to their children and make sure the toilets are suitable for the next person. The people who were in charge of cleaning "A" loop bathrooms did an amazing job. I saw them several times a day checking and cleaning. They did a job that most people wouldn't.
