What Guests Are Saying
Zilpo Campground is praised for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and friendly camp hosts, making it a favorite for many long-time visitors. While some amenities, such as hot water availability and maintenance support, have declined, most campers still enjoy the private, serene sites and the access to outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. However, issues like noise from other campers and limited store supplies have been noted, highlighting areas for improvement.

We originally were going to stay at Twin Knobs Campbrougnd, but after some research, we decided to switch the reservation to Zilpo. Having recently moved to Kentucky from California was so happy to get to camp in another season besides summer. All the spots in the H Loop seemed like they would be great for a visit, but after walking around the whole section, we found H 26. It was a double spot with easy access to the lake and set up a beach fire for the night. The only issue was the bathroom nearest to us was shut down, but it really wasn't that much farther. Amazing seeing the Milky Way one evening.

This is a beautiful area with easy access to the lake at various points, but it's difficult to actually know where you're going. We had a lot of difficulties with maps - the campground map did not match the reservation site online, and none of the hiking trails were accurately represented on the map. The trails were actually quite difficult to find. However, the lake was pretty and there were several access points. The campground was quiet and well kept (although one of the bathhouses was surprisingly closed in our loop). There were a lot of trees that provided privacy between sites.

Stayed in a cabin. In good shape and well maintained. No padding on the bunks so be sure to bring your own. Camp ground clean. Lake is beautiful and many great hiking trails. Bathrooms were very close to campground but showers were not. Had to commute to a different camp area to find take a shower. Overall this is a great campground and I would recommend staying here.
