About Baileys Point

Bailey's Point campground is the largest of the Army Corps of Engineers' campgrounds on Barren River Lake. This campground offers several waterfront campsites with scenic views of the lake. Though the campground is one of the largest, you won't know it. There is room to roam, five camping loops with diverse scenery, and private coves for swimming or mooring your boat. It’s a beautiful park and the sites are very nice. Our issue was the camp hosts were not friendly. We brought our golf cart and used it to explore the park but didn’t realize this was not allowed. They were not nice in telling us we could not use it in that manor. We then rode it to the beach and parked it on the gravel and she again said that was not allowed. We felt like everything we did was not allowed. We ended up packing up camp and going to Barren River State Park. The hosts are much more friendly.

We arrived and were greeted by a great host. She filled us in on where to find our site, laundry and camp store. We drove to our site and pulled in and easily set up. We walked thru the entire campground several times. Sites are well spaced out and clean. The bath houses are also very clean. Some of the inside sites in loops C and D are above the loop road and the driveway is quite steep. There are 2 dump stations at the exit of loops A and B, but for a large campground there will be quite a line waiting to use them on a Sunday morning. Very nice place overall and we would definitely return if in the area.

The bathrooms and showers were very clean and in great shape. The campsites were level and beautiful. A great view of the lake could be seen from many of the campsites. We camped on Loop B and it was very clean and well kept. Mammoth Cave was a scenic 49 miles away. We will definitely camp here again if we pass this way.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
