I always love camping at Assateague! I was a little taken a back when I got there last week because of all the foliage removal in the Bayside campsites. I understand that encroachment of the foliage can be an issue, however, I think the cut back in some of the sites went a little too far. The foliage served a purpose of providing both privacy and wind protection in many of the campsites. The cut back was much to severe in my favorite sites along the road in fact now the road is visible when it was not previously. I was told that in a month or two it will be grown back in however my opinion is itβll take a year or two and some of the sites are permanently damaged.

Loved camping with the ponies! The site and campground was clean, sites have plenty of space. We had an Oceanside site and the wood walkway to the beach made it easy to get over the dunes.

Level sites for RVs at the beach area . Horses were in our site nearly everyday and were obvious to us. Will definitely visit again, but not during summer months due to the biting bugs

Assateague National Park offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy camping in the dunes by the ocean or sites by the bay. The wooden walkways over the marsh areas provides stunning views of the bay. Oceanside camping provides access to the beach area just over the dunes. Wild horses, deer, fox, and turkeys in the island are exciting to see and photograph. Ocean City MD is nearby providing another completely different adventure on the board walk.
Itβs a great place to relax and fun.

I stayed at C48 and for me it was perfect. Great views, near the water, Walking distance to the end of the bay. Quiet but it was December. Only thing missing was electric when my generator quit.

Assateague is a beautiful and pristine natural place, and such a privilege to be able to camp here! We saw wild horses walk through our campsite in the middle of the night under the light of the full moon, such a cool experience.
