What Guests Are Saying
Greenbelt Campground offers a great location close to Washington D.C., providing a peaceful, forested setting with well-maintained sites and convenient access to amenities. Many visitors appreciate the clean campsites, hot water in showers, and helpful staff, making it a good choice for camping near the city. However, some guests noted that the bathroom facilities could use improvements in cleanliness and maintenance. Overall, it’s recommended for its affordability and accessibility to both urban and natural attractions.

This site is very tired. The campground had just opened from a major storm which blew over many trees and disrupted a water line. There were still many trees which were down in the woods and we still spent a half hour cleaning up the individual campsite from limbs and sticks. This situation is understandable but many of the problems of the campground were not related to this storm damage. The bath houses were old and in disrepair. Few toilet stalls had latches. There was only a single shower per loop. There were few campers when we camped so we did not have an issue taking a shower but I can not imagine what it would be like during a warm summer morning. This campground needs some major infrastructure improvements.

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting DC. It was a quick drive to the Greenbelt Metro and then a 30 minute ride to DC. It was nice knowing we had a quiet place to sleep each night. The spot we had was absolutely wonderful. We felt very safe and our spot was private. Less people in the campground than expected, but still had to wait longer than expected for the one shower we found. Overall still 5 stars for a good solid campground.

Nice camp ground and not too busy too. Really makes you forget you’re in the middle of the Tristate area.
