What Guests Are Saying
Greenbelt Campground offers a great location close to Washington D.C., providing a peaceful, forested setting with well-maintained sites and convenient access to amenities. Many visitors appreciate the clean campsites, hot water in showers, and helpful staff, making it a good choice for camping near the city. However, some guests noted that the bathroom facilities could use improvements in cleanliness and maintenance. Overall, it’s recommended for its affordability and accessibility to both urban and natural attractions.

Clean well lit restrooms. Close to the Metro. Excellent value!

The perimeter trail was a great hike, although because of some detours and poor signage I had difficulty finding my way back to the campground.
We used the campground as a base to go into Washington and visit the museums using the Metro.

Amenities: Standard Nonelectric, Water spicket next to camp, fire pit with cooking grill, picnic table, Clean Park bathroom with shower about 200 ft away. Pet friendly (leached). Paved pull-in for camper trailer or RV.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS: Good cell phone service, Active Park ranger station nearby, Police station at entrance, Some hiking possible. Only about 3 miles from food and gas. Can hear I95 traffic in the distance. Bring your own firewood. Our camping party: 2 adults, one dog.
Nice Park. Camping lots are fairly close together. Grounds well kept. Bathrooms are very clean and prepped. Roving Ranger checks sites every now and then. The feeling of good security is high in this park. The proximity to the beltway and Washington is part of the perk of camping here. The beltway traffic that can be heard is not that loud, but during high traffic times is recognizable. We were only here for initial shakedown of the new Bushwhacker. We did not have time to explore due to approaching storm. On the way out, park ranger thanked us for the stay and welcomed us to come again.
Verdict: I have no issues coming back here again.
