What Guests Are Saying
The shelter and surrounding area were clean, with a delightful morning chorus of bird songs. Reviewers noted that all conditions were as promised, and trails nearby were well marked. It's recommended to bring your own toilet paper for the outhouse.

We underestimated the hike and overpacked. Site was beautiful and slept well. Bathroom was scary. Sadly we had no dry firewood but we’ll bring some next time. Definitely worth the 8 bucks.

Adirondack and the campsite were awesome. Great weather mean we had a awesome time hiking, close to the waterfalls, remote enough to be alone but close enough to make a quick weekend.

Pleasant hike (for those of us with injuries) and the shelters themselves are well built and comfortable.

Beautiful and remote for a hike-in site, more suitable for equestrian use. Some approaches are rugged trails, but they are well marked; I was able to stay on trails at night for three miles. Muddy after rains, but fewer mosquitoes then, so it’s a toss-up as to which is preferable. Less rugged trails had horse manure but rugged sections were free of deposits. Shelters are profoundly dirty and smelly, but welcome for shade and drying out after long, heavily burdened hikes. The northern shelter is less shaded and closer to noise from passing road traffic. Bring a broom and washcloths if you can. Bats sleep in the rafters in the daytime, but are shy of people, so take it as a compliment if they put up with you for a few hours!

Everything was absolutely wonderful! There were FOUR rolls of toilet paper! And wood for a fire every night! I appreciated the information the East Side trails provided about the ecosystems, landforms, and history in the park and their corresponding brochures. It was also wonderful to see accessible trails, such as the Spicebush Trail.
