While sites are on the river there is a steep bank that makes access difficult. There may be a different way to get to river but I didn’t find one. Keep in mind there are no showers . Also not a drive up kind of place so have to drag stuff a little ways across a bridge. Otherwise a lovely campground. Very serene and peaceful.

Unfortunately 10 minutes after paying for our campsite I fainted from dehydration and had to leave so we lost what would have been a great campsite and the money we paid to reserve it! :(

I had a very nice stay at Antietam Creek. Then stayed again on my return trip. Gary, the host, was very friendly and helpful. I rode in on a motorcycle and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. It’s not a big or fancy campground but I’m used to that and actually prefer it. Hope to return some day

Beautiful campsite! We were at site 19 and we're thrilled with the privacy we had. The campground was mostly empty as we were there early in the week . The campground host, Gary, was very personable and was on top of keeping the bathrooms clean and well supplied. The barred owls were plentiful and called to us every night . Lots of friendly people on the canal towpath, can't wait to go back.

From Hagerstown MD: Take MD-65 to Sharpsburg. Make a right on Main St. then left on Harpers Ferry Road for a few miles. Before you cross the Antietam Creek bridge, make a right on Canal Rd. Campsites are across the canal and towpath from Canal Rd....

From West Virginia: Take WV-480 through Shepherdstown across the Potomac River. Make the first right after the bridge on Canal Rd. Follow Canal Rd a few miles until you see the campsites on your right before Antietam Creek.
Antietam Creek Campsite is accessible via MD-65, which leads to Sharpsburg, and is approximately 10 miles from I-70.
The closest entrance is: Front Royal Entrance Station
