What Guests Are Saying
McCoy's Ferry Campground is praised for its beautiful riverfront location, well-maintained facilities, and peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for camping, fishing, and biking along the C&O Canal towpath. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the portajohns and the spaciousness of the campsites. However, some guests noted noise from passing trains and occasional issues with cleanliness upon arrival, but overall, it remains a favored spot for repeat campers.

Nice site on the river with nice views. No camp host or firewood on site. Pit toilet in the parking lot by the boat ramp. Park rangers drove through a couple times. There was a bit of noise in the evening from people on the river.

Campground was very clean and there was a local police that came through a couple of times. A beautiful spot along the Potomac. We would go back again.

There campground setting is very peaceful as it sits next to the Potomac River. An eagle flew by while I was enjoying my morning coffee! It’s a very basic campground which was fine for me but people should be aware of before arriving.

I’ve been coming to this site since I was a kid and couldn’t be more happy with the upkeep on everything. Plenty of sites that are different from one another, some allowing more sun to come through, others completely shaded, some small and some larger for group camping. They have porta john’s along the site trail, and even a spring well pump that pumps water that’s as cold as the canal that borders the campground. There’s also a boat ramp for water access! Great place to stay for a weekend or longer and you can’t beat $20 a night!
