What Guests Are Saying
McCoy's Ferry Campground is praised for its beautiful riverfront location, well-maintained facilities, and peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for camping, fishing, and biking along the C&O Canal towpath. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the portajohns and the spaciousness of the campsites. However, some guests noted noise from passing trains and occasional issues with cleanliness upon arrival, but overall, it remains a favored spot for repeat campers.

Make no mistake there is no place better for friendly, relaxing and beautiful scenery. You can camp by the fire, grill on the grill, fish off the banks and walk the towpath. Share stories and food with you neighbors. It's definitely the place to be for inexpensive fun and relaxation.

We had an interesting trip. When we pulled into the campground around 6PM on a Friday night, the party at McCoy's Ferry was in full swing. Two of our closest neighbors were playing loud music -- we actually liked the music from both individually, but together, it created a cacophony in our ears. A couple at a nearby site were up all night, clearly on some sort of drugs, and spent the night running around naked fornicating and fighting with each other. During the day on Saturday, around 50 motor boats, jet skis, etc pulled up to the shore in a large flotilla just upstream of the campground and partied all day long. BTW, the campground does not have flush toilets, only port-o-johns. All that said, we had a lovely time. We paddled our non-motorized boats upstream (where the motorboats and jet skis don't go due to rocks) and had the world to ourselves, and had some nice long bike rides on the C&O canal that runs adjacent to the campground. All that said, I don't think that we'll go back; we got the impression that this was a party campground.
