Very nice park. Well maintained, the Forest Service does a great job. There is plenty to do in the area, the park has a boat launch, small beach area and is close the historic Au Sauble River Trail https://www.awesomemitten.com/au-sable-river-trail/ . The ASRT includes Lumbermans Monument Highbanks, etc. Short rides to Tawas and Oscoda.
The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the water, I'm sure it was fine to drink, but I couldn't get past the color. I've drank a lot of pump waters, but I couldn't do this one. Must be getting soft in my old age...lol

Previous reviews said there were a lot of problems with generators running late at night, and a lot of mosquitoes. Thankfully we did not
experience either of these issues.

Nice campground but a constant cruise of golf carts, four wheelers, n drive through by area visitors n residents made us feel like we were on display. Someone also drove a riding mower they each morning n evening. Campground is a good location to AuSable river, Lumberman’s Monument n Lake Huron beaches.

Each campsite needs to be labeled where campers can setup. Non specific on maximum tents. These sites are mostly for rv and pop ups as the tent setup areas that are allowed are super small and too close to the fire pit. The water was not drinkable as it had debris and was yellow. People were bathing their children in it as well. Was nice at the lake and also riding a bike around the town was cool. Fishing was not that great, definitely no lunkers in those lakes. One bathroom per side of the campground, was out of toilet paper at one point. Also bathroom smell wafted into my campsite the whole time we where here.

As rustic campgrounds go, this is my favorite. Things like the seawall by the lake and boat launch could use some TLC, but camp sites, picnic tables, and fire pits all in nice condition. Vault toilets clean, with ample toilet paper. Will return

We stayed in site 7 which is the best lake view site in that loop. The campground was very quiet, there were only three sites full. The campground was very clean. Did not use the outhouse so cannot report on that. Great place to relax.
