Good location for easy North - South access on eastern side of Michigan. Forest has evidence of fairly recent fire with scarred trees, but the floor has regrown. Camp sites have good spacing and there are many great sites, both reservable (all in the inner loop) and fcfs (all on the exterior of the loop). Short walk to Lumberman’s monument, including some great observation points over the Au Sable river. Latrines were odor free and stocked with TP even on the last camping day of the season. Plenty of firewood to scavenge. I'd stay here again.

The sites are well laid out giving the true "woods camping" experience. Excellent spacing between campsites. The hosts were helpful yet not intrusive. The toilets and all of the grounds were very clean. Easy ride into Tawas or Oscoda if you need supplies. We look forward to many more trips to this campground.

Beautiful forest campsites that are well spaced. Camp host does a fantastic job with maintenance. Lots of outdoor activities. Only problem was raccoons that got onto tables and damaged window screen as I had food on dinette (no food/trash outside. Verizon cell is non existent in campground. Close to towns with restaurants, shopping and great beaches.

This was my 2nd visit to this campground this year. I liked the primitive nature of the wooded sites. The vault toilets were in excellent condition, clean and well stocked. The campground hosts were very friendly and helpful. I especially appreciated the nearby proximity of the Lumbermen's Monument only a few hundred yards away. There I was able to access my phone and internet service which did not cover the campground. There is plenty to both do and see in the area and I look forward to future return visits.
