This national forest campground is our very favorite! The hosts Kathy and Pat keep the campground as spotless as one can possibly keep a national forest. All sites are spacious. A beautiful san beach is just steps down from all of the campsites that are on the shore. It's quiet, and the hosts ensure it stays that way. What's not to like if one is looking for a primitive campsite on the south shore of Lake Superior. Some of the sites are reservable and others are first-come-first-served. It truly is our favorite and the only campground that we stay for multiple days each time.

It is a perfect getaway to watch the sunset. Although the lake superior water is always cold, we had a great time in the water as well. Pat, who works there is an amazing man. He helped us park our additional cars at his location which is campsite 1. They are very strict about the number of cars that can be parked on the site which is only two. If you have additional cars, I recommend talking to Kathy or Pat at the site location beforehand.
The phone service only works for Verizon & Visible with a limited signal. Att & T-mobile does not have any cell reception. I recommend downloading offline maps beforehand when travelling through the upper peninsula.
We were able to accommodate two 8-person tents. Although you need to find an even ground for sleeping there were some bumps.
Walmart is around 30 min drive, coffee shops & grocery stores are at least 20 min drive.
No showers in the location but the nearest showers are at the Tahquamenon State RIVERMOUTH campground location. So, if you are planning to visit the Tahquamenon falls, you can go for showers on the way to the lower falls.
The restrooms were neat during the daytime which is when they do the cleaning but at night time there will be no light and you need to carry one.

Super clean, quiet, and serene campground. The hosts go above and beyond to make sure the campgrounds and facilities are well maintained. They even shared games for the families to enjoy.

This campsite is absolutely amazing!!! The campsites are connected to the shore of lake superior and the views are spectacular! I visited at the end of August and the weather was very mild. There is quite a bit of wind that steadily comes off the lake so be prepared with layers. Starting a fire is a bit of a challenge due to the wind, but overall the campsite was amazing!! I highly recommend it!

This has to be one of my favorite campsites ever! The hosts have these sites impeccably clean. They were completely raked and huge new fire pits and hooks that were great for hanging lanterns or making a laundry line. The hosts were super fast to welcome you and answer any questions. Beach was lovely. Warning that this site is in the middle of nowhere which I love, but if you are planning on going into towns for food and entertainment, it's a bit of a haul. There isn't anything very close which makes it a perfect place for amazing stargazing and complete darkness. Bring flashlights/redlights for making your way to the beach and bathroom at night because it is DARK!

We visited this rustic campground in Sept. 2020. We just loved this beautiful wooded setting close to the water's edge. This is a very peaceful and quiet place to relax and enjoy nature. Kathy and Pat. the campground hosts, keep the rest rooms and grounds very clean and they are very friendly and helpful! We'll definitely be coming here again.

Loved the campground host! They were incredibly helpful, friendly and diligent. The campsite was spotless. I cannot believe how hard they work to keep this campground beautiful. Really appreciated them. Also loved the beach, and the day use park. Thank you for an excellent vacation.
