This used to be a very nice campground but the care and maintenance of it has declined. The location is wonderful but the facilities are getting worn down. There’s been a tree removal project which has really opened up the space between campsite so there is very little privacy. There are some new vault toilets which is nice.

My favorite campground in the boundary waters so far. Our campsite, and each one I saw, had a lot of space in between each other. Our campsite felt private and like we had our own space out in the woods. I loved that we had access to the water and could take plenty of walks by the lake. Facilities were clean (as clean as they can be for a campground). Like another review said, you can't bring your dogs to the beach. But there is a large boat dock that we took our dog to and we let her swim there, and no one complained. We were lucky enough to see the northern lights while we were here this summer. We had a great time and I can't wait to go back!

There was nothing online to indicate that although you can bring your dogs camping, they are not allowed at the beach. That was extremely limiting and due to this we spent almost all of our time at the campsite; which made for a very disappointing trip. We will be returning to Madeline island for our annual family camping trip next year.
