Very clean, fresh pine feel! Nicely spaced from other campsites. Great roomy design with 2 bunks, table, and loft.

Great campground in the perfect location that felt very remote. We had a cabin next door with high turnover of boaters who were not the best neighbors, and we’d been led to believe we could fill our pop-up water tank onsite which proved untrue. Also, recreation.gov didn’t warn us a fire ban had been put in place, but luckily I learned of that accidentally before we got there.

East Bearskin Lake Campground is located 26 miles from Grand Marais, on the historic Gunflint Trail. From Duluth, take Highway 61 north to Grand Marais. Turn left (north) on Gunflint Trail and proceed about 26 miles to East Bearskin Road. Turn right and follow the signs to the campground.
East Bearskin Lake Campground is accessed via Highway 61, which runs north from Duluth to Grand Marais. From Grand Marais, visitors can take Gunflint Trail for about 26 miles to reach the campground.

- This lake has portages into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; when portaging or paddling from this lake and into another, be aware that permits may be required to enter (click here for permit information)
- Some first-come, first-served sites are available within the campground
- Bears may frequent the area; use appropriate containers for food and garbage and be aware of your surroundings
