What Guests Are Saying
Trails End Campground offers a stunning and serene location with beautiful views of the river and easy access to canoeing and hiking in the BWCA. Many campers appreciate the well-maintained sites, peaceful ambiance, and wildlife sightings, making it a favorite for relaxation and exploration. However, some concerns were noted regarding the cleanliness of the outhouses and the lack of on-site assistance for purchasing necessities, along with issues related to noise from nearby campers.

Had to go to a resort to get ice. Didn't have any at Way of the Wilderness.

Great campground. Sites seem mostly well spaced out and some have wonderful views and the sounds of the river. If you plan to paddle, it's worth noting where to put in compared to where the waterfalls are located. Dragged our camper up from Minneapolis, and can say the gunflint trail is increasingly bumpy the last 20 miles or so. Stopping in Grand Marais for food is fun, but gets crowded/parking with a camper can be hard. Campground is a winner, will be back.

Really a nice campground. Fun to see the BWCA paddlers coming and going. The Magnetic Rock hike is well worth the time.

It was so beautiful at Trails End Campground! We had a lovely time.
There are several dead potholes that really need to be filled in, other than that it was fabulous!

Stayed in site 18. It was amazing being right next to the rapids. The noise was a bit loud and it was hard to talk to those at my campsite because of it but it was still amazing. I highly recommend this campground and this site. 19 is good too and right on the rapids but in my opinion 18 was far superior.

Thoroughly enjoyable location..#21. Easy to find campsites that have spectacular views. Very quite with nearby running water to listen too. Good picnic table, decent pit toilet with TP, fire ring and outdoor water spicket for use. Easy to reserve campsite on RECREATION.gov with a fee $. Well kept campsite !!!!! I would love to return.

Never disappointed at trails end. Stayed in site 27 before paddling in for a 6 day. Overnight parking is right at the campground as well as a boat launch if needed. The water system was under repair but we had our Platypus for our trip into the BWCAW anyway so it wasn’t a problem. The Falls are adjacent to the camping so you can hear them pretty much from anywhere in the grounds.

Campsite #1 was amazing with access to the Lake and a great rock to sit to watch the sunrise and sunset.
