What Guests Are Saying
Voyageurs National Park offers stunning scenery, spacious and well-maintained campsites, and a variety of wildlife sightings, making it a fantastic destination for camping. The reservation system is convenient, though some users find it cumbersome and prefer the old method of finding campsites. Despite minor inconveniences like overgrown trails and occasional maintenance issues, visitors report enjoyable experiences and express eagerness to return.

Voyageurs National Park is the next best thing to the BWCA. Both have endless shoreline and beautiful scenery.

This place is magical! I have never been to a place that is so untouched by humanity! I knew it was going to be beautiful but I have no idea how much Voyageurs would touch my soul! We had an amazing time, far surpassed our expectations! Thank God for this beautiful place on earth! We will be back every year!

Breakwater Cove R6
Accessibility: 5/5 Dock has in good shape. A little short, I only recommend 1 boat. 2 boats (one on each side) would be a little sketch. The water is low on the east side of the dock. It is called breakwater cove for a reason! There are some light rollers that will also slam against the east side of the dock.
Campsite: 3/5. The tent pads, fire ring, and table are in good shape. The bear lockers are slight at an downward slope, which is annoying. Nice stairs and pathway leading up to the site. Privy is also in good shape, and a nice view from the shitter. Haha. My biggest complaint on the site is that almost everything is on a slope. A week of boating, sleeping on an air mattress, and walking on a slope really screwed with my equilibrium .
Convenience: 5/5 Site is only a few miles from Sha Sha, Island Review, and Thunderbird. Easy for refit/refuel. Ice and gas no problem. Water is a little trickier. Thunderbird was very nice about refilling water bottles, and you could probably count on them for a 5 gallon top off as well. I still recommend bringing a water filter, since water resupply was surprisingly a challenge.
Solitude/Beauty: 3/5 You will see a lot of boat traffic, as it is on major artery for navigation. Anglers will toss a line 100 feet from the dock. Site is on the south side of the island, so you are not going to get those amazing sunset views unless you go on a night cruise. It is still, despite that, a beautiful site.

Lost Lake is a hidden gem nestled in its own inner lake! Extremely private, serene spot away from the bustling motorboat traffic. Just a 1/2 mile paddle from Ash River Visitor Center, it was the perfect place to start a kayak camping trip as we arrived in the late afternoon and did not want to paddle too far the first day. Two bear boxes, two camp pads, and a fire pit. Highly recommended for paddlers!
