What Guests Are Saying
Hernando Point Campground is praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and spacious sites with full hookups, making it a great escape close to home. Many visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful views, and the presence of wildlife, including a bald eagle nest. While the lake is currently dry due to dam repairs, guests still enjoy the campground for its tranquility and plan to return.

Favorite COE so far. Loved that there was full hookup (sewer). Quiet park. Never heard 1 barking dog in two weeks. Large area with plenty of space between sites. Very flat, not too many trees when parking. Very clean bath house.
No washer/dryer, but no problem. Beautiful lake. Saw our first armadillo.
1 issue-No on site check- in allows for people who don't belong to pull in and party, which happened 1 weekday with about 12 people, & loud music. Otherwise, quiet and peaceful. Great walking area and sunset views.
We stayed here to go to Graceland/Memphis. It was a short easy ride from the campground.

This time there was two car chases through the park both speeding,,two days apart. More rangers than before, but still not safe. What looked like homeless people on bike's with trash bags hanging from handle bars looking at campground sites for things to steal.no camp hosts were seen, twice in our two weeks camper across from us had trouble getting into site dug big trench in our yard.to big for site,,

We camp at Arkabutla lake very often at many different sites. We were at Hernando point site 50, 11/4-6/2022. The site was little to be desired, first the sewer did not drain properly, it leeks into the field next to camp site, the 30 amp out let would not hold power wire, had to use duct tape to make it stay connected, there was no ring for a fire to be built.

Lovely and quiet Army Core of Engineers campground. Many sites face the water. Most have mature trees to keep things cool. Picnic tables, fire grills and fire pits on every site. We were on site 18, and I think it may be the best one. The beach is clean and good for walking. Only issue is the ants. Tiny little ants that crawl up you Jack legs, water hose and anything else that gives them access from the ground. They were dealt with buy spraying all access points outside with ant killer. Come prepared, or buy some in Hernando.

As stated before, this place could be really nice if the following would be fixed: 1) gate attendant (a gate period); 2) hosts or at least more than just occupying a site; 3) reopen the beach and common area (the playground, grills and picnic tables are just rusting away..wasting tax payer money).
Besides these, our site did not have a fire ring as others in the area were missing too. Also we had some excitement, a high speed chase thru the campground. A Sherriff's deputy chased a guy in a truck going about 35 - 40 miles per hour (thank God no children were playing on the roads)...maybe a gate would have stopped this or at least made it safer for the campers.
