Hernando Point Campground

1st stay on 2 years and they have cleaned this place up and added sewer.

Trails were closed. Bathhouse was filthy. Everyone was friendly however. It was nice to have all the hookups we needed for the RV. Beautiful views.

First time visit since reopening the park. We were pleasantly surprised to find full hook up. We’ll be back!

We stayed in site 09. The site was paved and was easy to level after backing in. Although we did not have a campsite on the lake, we had a good view of the lake from our campsite. Campsites were well-spaced and many were right along the lake. Staff were friendly, the restrooms clean, and the park was quiet at night. The picnic tables at many of the sites were placed in odd places and often well-away from the trailer pad. My only reason,, though, for downgrading the campground was that our site had way too much litter. A slob had camped there before us. Cigarette butts along with various paper wrappers littered the ground and they left litter and garbage in the fire grate. It was the only campsite cluttered with litter in our 8000 miles of travel. I did not observe litter in other campsites, but the litter in our campsite was a real turn-off, otherwise I would have given this campground more stars.

The site was covered with ants, they were everywhere and it was impossible to keep them out of the RV. There was trash and debris at our site and the on the beach area. We saw no sign of a camp host or that the campground was being maintained. The sites are tight and hard to maneuver and again not maintained. The bathrooms were disgusting and it appeared that someone had sprayed water in the womens to clean it? Not really sure if that was the case since nothing was picked up from the floor including rolls of toilet paper and trash. I would not recommend this park.

We stayed in site 4. The grass was overgrown across the site and 3’ weeds around picnic table and fire pit. There was also 4’x10’ mud ruts along the edge of our slab. We have a one year old who wants to spend all hours outside running around, and it was disheartening having to keep him right on the concrete due to unkept area. (There was a large Jon Deere across from us that has obviously not been touched in a couple weeks.) The women’s restroom was flooded when we arrived on Friday and looked like it had not been touched when we went back on Saturday. There was a permanent water stain on the outside on the restroom where it seemed like this has been an issue for a while. Gnats were also a HUGE issue at night. Even opening the door for a split second would let in 50-100. When we dropped off our trash on Sunday, the dumpster was full, and there were about 30 bags of trash piled on the outside.

We did like the location of the campground and the views of the water were nice. The sewer, water, and electricity were very nice to have and did not have any issues with them.

Beautiful view! Great facilities. Not crowded.

Would like to see more attention to bathhouse. Dirty and no tissue paper, not idea for tent camping.

Very Good. Should be better after a year to recover from the storm.

Clean campsite, water, sewer, and electrical 30 amp plug-in worked fine. I could even get some local station off my RV antennae.
