Our favorite campground mostly because it’s close to home but good sites too ! Wish the Corp would cut some trees that are dangerous to campers !!

We absolutely love Town Creek. Hiking/Biking trail, lake to fish, primitive camping, boat ramp to the river. Couple swings sets for kids. Always have a good time when camping here.

Town Creek Campground has been a favorite local getaway spot of ours for several years. We always reserve one of the river-front sites so that we can watch the barge and boat traffic go by. FYI, I don't believe we've ever even camped in any of the non-riverfront sites! Regardless of location, all of the sites are generally spacious and well-maintained. There are plenty of roads and trails to ride bikes on, and there are hiking trails as well. A playground and ball court are available for the kids. Unfortunately, TC-CG is closed from November until maybe March; we think it's to avoid having hunting parties camping there, but who knows? (One year while we were there in late fall, hunters had come in and were actually dressing out their kills - deer - at their campsites. This was not something I wanted or needed to see while on my camping weekend.) All in all, Town Creek makes for a relaxing weekend or week. It's away from town, yet it's only 10-15 minutes to town if you want to run in to eat or pick up something you forgot to bring.

If the site says first come first serve, there is no way to pay for it. They refuse to allow you to pay at the gate. The sites that can be reserved are paid online only. It is quite the hassel. One couple I talked to tried to reserve a site for over two hours before they finally were able to. We like it there, just getting to where it is not worth the hastle.
