Typical corp of engineers park. well maintained, good spacing between sites. Check in is more difficult than most due to the park having an east and west section with mondays and tuesdays having to go to the east campground to check in for the west. I suggest calling in before you arrive to see what you need to do. Also, we have ATT and could not get any service at when there to call in to staff to let them know we had arrived rather than driving miles to go to the east area to check in. Otherwise it is a beautiful, remote park and we will stay again.

Could remove dead trees for safety reasons. It was a very quiet 13 days. Shower houses were always clean.

We have camped at Ruark Bluff West off and on over the past several years - this is the 2nd year in a row we have gone in a larger family group (this year 4 sites, 3 last year). Very nice hosts - easy online reservation system. Clean grounds and facilities, not a rowdy environment - perfect for families. We did not go to the beach this year, but used the lake from one of the site's waterside locations, so I am not sure how the beach environment was; I do know in previous years the beach area has always been clean and accessible. The only complaint, for this year, is that we really wanted the campsite next to us as one of our 4 sites and it showed as reserved online, but no one ever showed up to camp on that site - I am not sure if it was a no-show situation or a glitch in the online. I guess we just need to pick our weekend sooner for next year!

This has been one of our favorite places to camp for years. For the most part, people are very friendly and willing to help with any camping issues that might arise
