We have camped at Ray Behrens on the Deer Run loop for years. We like the atmosphere & the close proximity to the boat ramp. It's a good place for families with kids of all ages.

At our arrival we were greeted by a very friendly gate attendant. He was very helpful, informing us about the area and amenities available. The Mark Twain Museum is a must see. The sites are spacious and have that feeling of seclusion. When we pulled up there were deer in our site and they continued showing up during our whole stay. It was very peaceful, quiet, and the forest views were a welcome change of pace. The site and the entire area was well kept and clean. We will definitely be coming back.

What a wonderful campground! Large sites. Many with full hookups, but some only have electricity, so be sure to confirm before you pick a site. Mostly quiet. Don't be near the bathroom if you like more of a dark sky look. It is brightly lit.
AT&T Cell service is spotty, but the couple we camped next to had T-Mobile and they had all bars. But if you want a quieter and more natural campground near good hiking, then this is it. We really enjoyed our stay and will certainly return. Oh and if you are over 62 and have the America the Beautiful National Park Pass, I believe you get 50% off, so check on this as well.

Reduce multiple speed bumps at check in station. That many bumps is ridiculous! Other than that, your park is great.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
