Wade Lake (MT)

Wade Lake is such a wonderful place to be. So relaxing! The campground host was absolutely wonderful, the best that we’ve ever seen. He was attentive, walked around checking on the whole campground and the bathrooms were spotless. Thanks

Great place to fish, kayak, paddleboard

This lake is one of my most favorite lakes in Montana. It’s tucked up in the mountains, so high elevation. Considering how remote it is, the road isn’t that bad. Swimming isn’t exactly comfortable until mid July, though I’m sure people do it before that. But even just paddleboarding the lake or kayaking is an easy way to explore it. The camp sites by the water front feel pretty private with your own little water front beach. The water is very clear and turquoise in color. Mosquitoes can get bad if the rain comes in. Even if you can’t score the water front sites, the other sites are beautiful as well. Most still have a view of the lake, though further away.

Bathrooms were as mess the whole time, Many Dogs running with no leash, host didn't seem to care. Lake was beautiful as always

Came from highway 87 onto Horn Creek Rd, big mistake. Miles of rough road, it was raining when we drove in and my suv slipped several times. Coming from 287 onto cliff lake rd over Three Dollar Bridge is MUCH better, but still be ready for some rough dirt roads. Campsite 21 was a bit split, with car up and having to walk down to the pad and picnic table. (Did have some water view through the trees). Opted to swap for open site #10. Camp host was very nice, couldn’t have asked for better. Make sure to bring your bug spray, the mosquitoes were out in FORCE. No cell service, you’ll need to go back roughly 1/2-1 mi to the last turn out to get service.

Beautiful campground. No wireless or phone availability

was a little cold and rainy the 1st weekend of June but campground was mostly empty. Very clean camp in a beautiful area. Would go again. Some of the spots will be tight for a larger rig so be sure to read the site description if you have a camper much over 20-25 ft.

Great host. The road in leaves a little to be desired the lake was beautiful. Love the experience.

The site host was friendly and helpful. The toilets were clean and didn't smell bad. The sites were clean; however from there it went downhill.

The site I had would barely fit a large popup camper. The length is ludicrous. And my site, had a site behind it up on a hill, where those people had to come down the hill to sit at a table and had a firepit just feet from MY actual campsite. Site was 19, upper loop.
It is a nice campground to look at, lake looks interesting if fishing; other than that, the campground's layout is terrible. Sites are way too small. Not the normal Forest campground. They put too many sites into the area just to make more money.
I would say take the route off 287 into the campground, the one off 87 is rough; I have a off-road trailer pulled by a truck setup for off-road travel, but many will find it too rough.
Also, please take your garbage out, the morons who were in my site first, left their garbage in the bear box. Not a problem to add it to my garbage bag when I left and then toss into the back of the truck bed to bring home to my garbage container; but it sure made the inside of the bear box stink!
Just another example of lazy American snowflakes.
Will I ever go BACK? NO! Not when there are plenty other forest service campgrounds of dispersed areas to camp in.
