About Chinamen's Campground

Review campsite details -- RV's larger than 20 feet long maybe be to large for many of the campsites.   This Campground is located at the very northern end of Canyon Ferry Reservoir, 30 miles east of Helena, Montana, along Montana Highway 284 and offers year-round access to a wide range of recreational opportunities. The Canyon Ferry area has a rich mining history. In the 1850’s the gold rush hit the Canyon Ferry area attracting miners from all over the United States in the hopes of striking it rich.

Love this place so much. It's usually so quiet and peaceful except for a few days ago, loud noisy neighbors with 2 big neglected dogs with incessant barking moved in. It is most annoying. the campground host warned them many times but she finally told them they cannot leave the dogs unattended. they are much better now.

The campground host it great. So friendly and very accommodating. We enjoy her alot.

Nice location and the camp host was wonderful and helpful. The camp spots are very close together though which means you hear your neighbors all the time. Overall it was good for a one night location but not for the whole weekend.

Chinamen’s campground is an excellent place for the whole family! It’s very clean both on the grounds and in the bathrooms! The view are stunning, the cost is very reasonable, and it is great for simply swimming or boating! I highly recommend staying there! If I had any complaints it would be that there is only one handicapped spot with a cement pad. I hope that they put in one or two more but it is a small campground so that may be very difficult for them to do.

My wife and I stopped in at this camp site late at night. Step up our starlink and reserved a spot. Was very quiet and clean. Very impressed with Montanas camping. The only thing I would like to see is being able to use cash still. Thank you. Hope to visit again in the future and enjoy the lake!

Please DO NOT bring the camp host back next year!! They are quite lazy. Bathrooms are usually not horrible and this 4 days we were camping, they were absolutely disgusting! Come on, it was Labor Day weekend! You don't EVER see the woman, just the man and VERY RARELY!! They are not available like camp hosts should be and they are clearly not peoply people. They don't welcome you (like the guy previously did). Our fire pit was completely full of ash and there was trash under the picnic table...Pretty sure all that should have been taken care of before we got there so we could enjoy our camping spot, but we had to clean it up before we could.

The sites are pretty small and close together, not a lot of space for a tent. I'm glad I purchased 2 spaces next to each other. 2 tents would have never fit into one space, even with 1 tent it was too close to the fire pit for safety. Our picnic table was practically touching the neighbors tent. Without having the 2 spaces it wouldn't have been enough space for a family. Odd piles of rocks randomly. They kind of need an overhaul and maybe somehow separate the spots so people stay within their own space

Camp Host is wasting space for someone who could be more helpful and understanding of what and why people go camping. Allows ‘buddies’ to play loud music whenever they want, ruining the peaceful environment.
