What Guests Are Saying
Chinamen's Campground features beautiful scenery and great lake access, making it a pleasant getaway for families. Many reviewers appreciated the friendly and helpful camp host, though some expressed concerns about her availability and enforcement of rules. While the campground has a clean environment and reasonable pricing, issues like trash, noisy neighbors, and small campsite sizes were noted, suggesting a need for improvements in management and facilities.

There is no boat landing, so please don't drive your big boats through this campground. This campground is great for tents and very small RVs not for big campers.

The campground host was the best. Super friendly kept the place nice and clean. Even stopped by and asked if we need anything from store as he was running there himself. Great guy !!!!

We stayed there on a Friday night, and there was no one on duty at the campground. Done kids rolled in late at night that were not camping there and made a lot of noise. They woke up my wife and I and I had to go out and tell them they were being too loud and ask them to leave myself. It was like 1 or 2am when this happened. Quiet time is not very well enforced here, and guests who pay money to be there certainly shouldn't have to be responsible for that as I was.

We booked a site online and then when we arrived, someone else was already set up on our site. They said they had reserved that site months ago. We went to the camp Host, who had an Off Duty sign added to his Camp Host sign. We asked him to help us with the mix up regarding the site we reserved. He said we should talk to the people on our site and tell them to leave. He did not come to the site, nor was he willing to check any reservation records. We had the impression a lot of site reservations were mixed up in this campground, and that the camp Host really didn’t care.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Reservesd a site and someone was in our spot, camp ground host nowhere to be found. Had no place to go for my son's bday because our site was filled with other people's stuff even though our name was on it.
Asked website to refund us but they couldn't because they just help with reservations but they issued a request and gave me the phone number for the people who own the campground (which is the mt bureau of reclamation ) called them over 10 times all has VM no reply. About a month and a half later still nothing, ended up having to contact BBB and issued a complaint and 48 hrs after my complaint I FINALLY got an email about the refund being issued.
As for what I saw of the campground, no privacy, tiny tiny spots (we have a jeep and a 16 ft trailer and it would have been super tight if we were able to stay. Dogs off leashes and camp host not available even when sign on their camper said they were there. Definitely not pleased.

Beautiful spot, great sites. One o f the bathrooms was pretty gnarly, the camp host needed to take a hose to it, it was real stank. Otherwise a perfect camping stay. Will be staying here again.

Camp host always seemed to be off duty. Not sure what all their duties are or when they should be around.
Noisy group one night until about midnight.
Bathrooms were clean.

My site had no shade all day but the paddling I did on the lake and the easy access made up for it. The campground is also day use area and locals love it. The toilets were always clean and the camp host does a great job of maintaining the sites and the beach.

We love camping at Canyon Ferry's Chinaman campground. Spots 7 & 8 are on the look right by the water. It can get a little warm mid-day, but you get a great breeze off the lake at night. It is a great little cove to explore and there are plenty of spots to put your chair in the water and just watch the world go by. Kim's Marina is right next store so if you forgot anything you can pick it up there. Nick, this year's camp host, is a great resource and we look forward to seeing him and Scooter every time we stay.
