This is a small, but comfortable one room cabin. The only drawback is a lack of shade. If you want to be outside in the summer, you may want to bring your shade.

The trails from the cabin were very well marked (new signs) and well maintained. Horse corral was good and had clean water.

I had a good stay at the Kading Cabin. A flock of Pine Grosbeaks came to the porch to visit me each morning. I snowshoed in; it took a about 2.5 hours. The first part of the trail was torn up some by vehicles that had been driven, and gotten stuck, beyond the plowed area. I took a snowshoe hike up the Larabee Gulch Trail, which was a bit of an adventure. The water to the outdoor spigots at the cabin was turned off, which hadn't been the case during other winters I've been there. There was plenty of water though available from the stream near the entrance to the campground. You might want to consider bringing some newspaper for starting a fire in the wood stove because the supply was getting low. It would be nice if there was a hatchet at the cabin for making kindling. The only tool that seems to be available now is a splitting maul, which is less than ideal.

Kading is always great. Good times guaranteed. Unless you're glued to your phone. In which case, don't come.
