The campground was nice. We really liked the large camping spots. Very quiet and good views. We enjoyed our time.

Couple of tips: Check on fire status before you travel (campfires were not allowed). Also check on algae reports as the swim area was closed because of algae. And bring your own Toilet paper!

We did not see a camp host during our stay. We had some questions but just did what we thought was right. Had a great time. Nice campground.

We arrived with a quarter of a tank of water as I usually wait til I get to the campground to fill up. We filled up and set up camp. Then my wife ran some in the coffee pot and it was yellow. Thankfully two families across the road from us took pity. One gave us several bottles and the other brought a five gallon jug over in the evening and said he would bring more if we needed it. They were awesome. In the three and a half days we were there we never saw a campground host. That seemed very strange as when we stay at Devils Elbow the host contacts us almost immediately, which is reassuring as you know someone is in charge.

There was a camp two sites below us who has two dogs that were not on a leash and were running and barking all over.

The sites are large, and loop A overlooks the lake. The roads are nice, and plenty of room to back a trailer and truck into the sites. The other loop sits up higher on a ledge over loop A, so it can be pretty noisy if you have partiers up there at night. There is not a lot of privacy between sites. The spots are gravel and were weedy. Our site was very dirty with trash and dog feces from previous campers. The campground just felt like it wasn't maintained very well. The lake is a dirty one, and signs warned of blue green algae. This type of algae is toxic. For dogs its fatal. If you can't get in the water, it kind of sucks the fun our of a summer lakefront camping trip. Maybe earlier in the year is better, but by the beginning of August the water was murky and gross. You can still fish, and it is a good fishing lake. There is a lot of boat traffic, so kayakers beware.
