What Guests Are Saying
Greenough Lake campground offers a beautiful and serene environment with friendly, helpful hosts. The facilities are well-maintained, including clean bathrooms and spacious sites, with some providing good privacy. However, some specific sites may not be well-suited for trailers or lack amenities like bear boxes, which could be inconvenient for some campers.

Greenough is a lovely place that is being loved to death. Unfortunately there are many who have no respect for nature. Live trees are chopped down or carved by knife and hatchet wielding morons. Trash is left behind, ashes from campfires dumped most anywhere. It's been going on for years but in the last few years it seems to be getting worse. Let's park the 40' fifth wheel, roll out the atv and conquer the wilderness. I have sympathy for the campground hosts. I don't think I could be patient with many of the campers.

Beautiful area with a short walk right up to the lake. This particular site did not have a particularly large area to place a tent and did not come with a bear box for some reason.

We were always told we can't get a longer motorhome into Greenough. Not sure if the new bridges helped but we got an ideal spot and enjoyed watching Rock Creek. It did rain and snowed up just a little higher, but was still beautiful. Campsites were well maintained, other than maybe the campfires could be cleaned out occasionally, (We had 5 spots with family) Everyone enjoyed themselves.

We were in site 10 for 8 days. During the week the campground was very quiet. Over labor day weekend the CG was full but still pretty quiet. Mike, the CG host was kind and efficient. He kept the bathrooms cleaned and well stocked. We caught over 30 Rainbow Trout in Greenough Lake, but released them all. Not many others seem to be catching fish, but we had good luck every day we fished. There is lots to do in the area in fishing, hiking, driving Beartooth Highway, Red Lodge. Highly recommended!

We never made it to the campground due to construction road closures. If you are staying at this campground, check to see if the road closures will affect you. When we were there the Beartooth Highway (212) was closed from 7pm to 7am - we only found out as we were leaving Yellowstone and of course we weren’t going to make it by 7. The campground should have this information in the “need to know” that they send out prior to the reservation.
