About Double Arrow Lookout

The Double Arrow Lookout offers guests a chance to see the Seeley valley and the adjacent Swan Mountains from a different and unique vantage point, high above the hillside. The tower contains a few modern amenities, including electricity, but allows guests to personalize their visits with their own supplies. A variety of recreational opportunities exist in the surrounding mountains, but the view is usually what attracts people to the tower.

What Guests Are Saying

Double Arrow Lookout offers stunning views, clean facilities, and amenities like a fridge and stove, making it a comfortable stay. Guests enjoyed the beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and wildlife, with plenty of trails nearby. However, the lookout can be crowded, and access requires a high-clearance vehicle; some guests found the cots uncomfortable.

We had a great time in the lookout. The weather failed to cooperate and we had cloudy skies, I had big plans for night sky photography... But the sunrise was stupendous.

I stayed over 4th of July weekend! Absolutely gorgeous lookout, very clean! Plenty of firewood and have to love a fridge, stove and lights!! It's like staying at the Hilton!! The views are magnificent and one of the best scenery I have seen. If you are hot, turn on the fan. If you are cold, turn on the heater.
Best vault toilet ever! Very clean, well stocked, large! Plenty of trails to follow in the area, especially to Tupper's lake, and plenty of wildlife to be seen. Firepit with ring was awesome!! Sunsets, sunrise and stars incredible! Not to mention the fireworks view on the 4th!
Only downside is you will get a ton of visitors!! I stopped counting at 50! A lot of groups and they over stayed their welcome. some tried to come inside the lookout even though I closed the hatch. I was sleeping and they were at the door trying to come in! Thank goodness there is a lock on the door!!
Other than that it was great! You have electricity and cell service. The road up only has a short hill that is kind of tricky as it is eroded, steep and angled. But it is only about 50 feet. The entire road is a bit rocky and eroded, so I feel like a higher clearance vehicle is a good choice. Great stay minus the crowds!

you are basically in a neighborhood with a house less than a tenth of a mile away, electromagnetic waves from 5G tower next to lookout causes nonstop headaches and nausea, views are mediocre, way too expensive for a totally lame experience, waste of time and money

Definitely high clearance access. Jeep was perfect! Would help to have arrow/sign on the final right turn. Lookout was excellent as always!

Great 360 degree views like most lookout towers. The wind wasn't a problem so we were able to enjoy the fire pit at night. The mini fridge and stove top were a nice addition as well. 5/5 experience overall.

Nice place.
There are no beds, just two very uncomfortable cots that smell terrible. I've rented tons of lookouts and never seen one without mattresses.
Other than that, very nice place

Our night in the lookout was overall great! It’s so peaceful and beautiful to see the surrounding mountains and lakes!

When we first arrived, the main door handle fell off as soon as we tried to open the door. My son tried to fix it, but without an actual screw driver, I’m not sure how long it’ll last. Someone needs to fix it properly so that the door can be closed and locked while staying overnight.

I’m not sure what or why, but the surface of the table is extremely sticky. We tried cleaning it with soap and water, Clorox wipes, and also 409. Nothing helped. We were happy someone left a roll of paper towels and we used those to make a table cloth. But getting stuck paper off the table was a whole new chore when it was time to leave!

The wall heater inside was a really nice surprise! It was rainy and chilly the night we were there so it felt great! The refrigerator was super helpful! There’s no need to take a cooler up the steep stairs.

I recommend bringing your own sleep mat/cushion or an air pump for the one that is provided. There are two hard benches and two cots to sleep on.

The outside trap door is really heavy. Make sure to close both doors or ensure it’s hooked when open. The wind grabs it if left half open and it bangs shut.

What an awesome place to stay at with our family. It was the last leg of our trip and definitely wish we could have stayed longer. Having the amenities that a lot of other lookouts don’t have plus the privacy and views were amazing.

The lookout was easily accessible, CLEAN, and had so many amenities which included a nice stack of chopped firewood. The views were amazing! 10/10 would recommend this lookout!

All the great amenities and views you’d expect from a lookout! I did have two people plus their dog enter the lookout while I was napping… Out of seven lookouts, this was a first for me. I closed the trap door (there’s no way to lock it on the top side), and the door closed (the door knob is broken). Just beware of that, especially if you’re a single female staying alone! I also had some people walk up in the pitch dark, which was a little unsettling, but these visitors didn’t try entering the lookout. You can also hear all boating activity from the nearby lakes.
