Whitetail Yurt

Had this on my bucket list for a while. Now retired so was able to get in during the week. Quiet, peaceful campground, big spaces, separation, CLEAN outhouse, lots of whitetail deer, no cell service, surprisingly comfortable mattress in the yurt. There were even lanterns which we didn't use because it says to bring your own, but nice for anyone that forgets. River was very low end of August and access a the campsite was pretty tricky but farther down the trail is easy access. Sat on the bank in the evening just listening to the river. Loved it!

Yurt is in a quiet campground surrounded by pines with highway on one side and a lazy section of river on the other. Very basic just a bunk and table with chairs. No heat source. The river access off the campsite is down a very steep bank but is a nice deep swimming hole. There is easier access towards the middle of the campground and a small rapid for fishing. The highway was very busy and loud while we were there due to road construction. There’s a general store in Yaak about five minutes away and Troy about 30 mi has more amenities and cell service. No hiking from campground and also no firewood but we found some in Yaak.

Remote. Quiet. Beautiful river. Nature abounds!

My nephew and I spent a couple of days at this Yurt at the end of October. The Yurt was perfect! No need to setup a tent, and the fishing at the river was a lot of fun! This is a great campground!

It was neat to stay in a yurt! We lucked out going at the beginning of October, and the rest of the campground was empty, because, otherwise, we don't like to be in a campground. The photo of the firepit right next to easy access to the river is not by the yurt. One walks on a trail past 8 other campsites to get to that spot. Each campsite has access to the river, mostly a narrow trail to not much shoreline. The river access from the yurt is a very steep, narrow trail straight down to the water. Haha. We weren't swimming and were there to enjoy the views, and it was beautiful. The yurt site does not have a bear box.

Second time here and was so much fun.

It was a magical experience to stay in a lush rainforest with towering trees and berry bushes all around. There was hardly anyone staying on our side of the campground (probably because we were there on weekdays), so it was extremely quiet and peaceful. The yurt withstood a serious rainstorm on the first night just fine, and we were grateful to not be in a tent! Also enjoyed hiking on nearby trails. Would definitely love to return next year.

Simple. Clean. Peaceful. Easy to find. I highly recommend staying here.
