Nice large campsites and great rangers

The campground location is great especially if you want to visit lake McDonald. It gets very busy and crowded however. There are only three public showers that get very busy at night. Early morning is the best time to visit them.

Apgar is an exceptional campground and location. We had a wonderful stay. I wish we had additional showers (only one shower facility in loop A), but the flush toilets, fresh water and dump station was very clean and convenient.

Nice campgrounds and very close to Lake McDonald and the start of Going-to-the-Sun Road, however, this specific campsite (A12) is on a STEEP HILL!!
I would not recommend for people sleeping in their cars/vans.

The campsites are quite large. Bear Boxes were few and far between. I am used to there being one at every campsite, but we just kept our stuff in our car. Very strict rules about tent placement and hanging of hammocks. Fine with me, but it was obvious that the rules applied to some, but not all. Bathrooms were disgusting. Pooorly maintained and filthy, no matter what time of day we went.
