What Guests Are Saying
Apgar Campground offers a beautiful and well-maintained setting, with friendly volunteers and convenient access to Lake McDonald and local amenities. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, scenic surroundings, and informative ranger programs. Some challenges include limited shower facilities and occasional noise from neighboring sites, but overall, visitors enjoyed their nature-filled experience.

Lovely campground in the month of May. Few other campers, all quiet, charming campground hosts, clean bathrooms, showers, recycling bins and a waste dump for campers. All very conveniently located walking distance from Lake MacDonald. We biked Going to the Sun Road as it is closed to cars this early in the season. It was a wonderful experience. Be sure to bring (or purchase) your own wood for a campfire as you may not collect wood inside the park (even at the campground). The only troublesome part was figuring out how to pay for the camp site. It was complicated and required cell service to use the recreation.org site and subsequently call. I suppose the system works well during the busy season but it was not easy to navigate.

Apgar is a great campground in general (I've camped here before in a tent during the off season) but trying to situate a 29 foot trailer in this particular spot was next to impossible. We made it work but they're REALLY stretching to say you can accommodate anything over 24 feet here. Otherwise, the location is great for recreating at Lake McDonald and it was nice having quick access to the Going to the Sun Road. Not much by way of wild life here in mid-summer but I suppose that's expected. Overall good but we'll by trying to find better campgrounds in the area when camping with a trailer.
