We stayed at site B94 and B96. Sites were clean. Bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, attended to in the form of a daily floor mop. There were noticeable cobwebs. I suggest an off-the-road trail along the part of the GTTS road that borders Apgar so that there is a loop hiking/biking trail from the Village.

We loved renting a kayak and paddle boarding the lake. We also enjoyed the hiking.

Great location in D loop, site 155. Close to restrooms but not too close. Large site that was pretty private, given the size of the campground. Only three showers for the entire campground, but we didn’t have to wait long. Water was always hot!
Biggest problem was parking on going to the sun road. This is nothing against the campground, it’s just the park is very busy.

We camped in the hiker and biker only campsites. Although we were without a vehicle for 98% of our trip and therefore were ‘hikers’ through the park, the camp host threw a fit. We were dropped off by our friends to get to the campsite, which was the only time a car was used, and the lady freaked out and started coming at us immediately without giving us a chance to talk. I understand we weren’t backpacking across the country but we were without a vehicle and hiking around the park, therefore we qualified to stay there but the camp host didn’t agree, threatening to kick us out, telling us we weren’t supposed to be there. I told her that we had even checked with the visitor center to see if that was fine and they said yes if we didn’t have a car. The camp host then tried to tell us that the visitor center doesn’t know what they are talking about, which I find hard to believe. She clearly did not want us, and our ONE SINGLE TENT, at the campsite. Really rude and totally unnecessary confrontation.

The campground is absolutely beautiful! We were by the shower so no problem. There was, however, only one shower house open with 3 showers for the whole campground. Ranger talks were fantastic!
