We camped in the hiker and biker only campsites. Although we were without a vehicle for 98% of our trip and therefore were ‘hikers’ through the park, the camp host threw a fit. We were dropped off by our friends to get to the campsite, which was the only time a car was used, and the lady freaked out and started coming at us immediately without giving us a chance to talk. I understand we weren’t backpacking across the country but we were without a vehicle and hiking around the park, therefore we qualified to stay there but the camp host didn’t agree, threatening to kick us out, telling us we weren’t supposed to be there. I told her that we had even checked with the visitor center to see if that was fine and they said yes if we didn’t have a car. The camp host then tried to tell us that the visitor center doesn’t know what they are talking about, which I find hard to believe. She clearly did not want us, and our ONE SINGLE TENT, at the campsite. Really rude and totally unnecessary confrontation.

We had a nice stay at Apgar Campground. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our site was good, reasonably large, flat and with trees giving some privacy. The nearby bathroom was just OK and definitely needs some maintenance and updating. The dump station was good. There is a nice bike/walking path that leads to the visitor center, Apgar Village and the Fish Creek Bike Trail, which then connects to the Inside North Fork Road if you want an extended gravel bike ride (gradual uphill for as long as you want, then turn around and a nice downhill return ride!). Even though we were there in the second week of September, the Going to the Sun Road was still somewhat busy (we started around 6:45am) and became busier as the day went on. But the views are fantastic! The outside North Fork Road to Bowman lake was not busy at all around 8:30am - however the gravel section is quite rough with unpleasant washboard sections. The lake is beautiful!

Fabulous campground with wonderful staff! Do wish there were an easier way to access spots for camping as there is no internet to access the web site for reservations. Thank you for a wonderful experience in one of our National Parks!

We booked a site near a bathroom only to find out when we arrived that the bathroom was closed for the season. What a disappointment.

Campground itself was decent, however the only bear boxes are near the bathrooms and there was no soap in the bathrooms. I was in A64 and I loved how close it is to the lake and the amphitheater. In the future, I would camp on the east side of the park because that's where I did most of my hikes.
