Sprague Creek Campground

Sites are close together and no privacy. Road is close and gets noisy early. But you can't beat a lakefront site on Lake McDonald. Toilets with running water but no soap. Overall a very positive experience staying here!

Running water, flush toilets, good campsite with tent platforms. Small campground but good site. Close to the Road to the Sun so some traffic noise. Great shuttle pick up and Joan the host was friendly and informative.

Small quiet campground that is more centrally located. No showers. Good modern bathroom.

Wonderful experience camping at Sprague Creek in GNP! It was clean as were the restrooms. Rules were posted to ensure a good camp experience for all. Campground host Joan Hanson was very welcoming and helpful. She shared some of her knowledge about nature in the area and showed me several stair trails to access the lake. So even tho my campsite was not one of those right by lake I could still get to the edge of lake ~ which was magnificent in early morning and evening. Friendly people and in spite of the road being just outside the campground it was quiet at night. Lovely picnic area just adjacent to the campground was also wonderful too! Thanks much!

Had a wonderful time in the campground and in Glacier in general. We used the shuttle from Sprauge to get to Logan Pass. It was pretty easy to get a morning shuttle to the pass, but a bit more difficult to get back in the afternoon. It took us about 2 hours to get from the Loop back to camp, so plan accordingly if you are utilizing the shuttle.

What a beautiful little campground tucked right between the road and the lake. The campsites were perfectly sized and the bathroom facilities sparkling clean! Many of the campsites have beautiful views of the lake and it is easy to walk down to the rocky beach early in the morning for coffee by the water or to fish or swim.

Maybe I have been to some bad campsites and didn't know it, but this campsite did exactly what we needed it to. Sure you're a little close to your neighbors, but the bathrooms are convenient and far enough away, the raised area for the tent was level, and there was easy access to the GTTSR. I also don't stay at the campsite but to sleep and have breakfast and dinner, so maybe that's why people seem to have a worse time at this site than I did.

Terribly small spots, but great location

On the plus side this is near Lake McDonald Lodge and its amenities and because it is inside the reservation area for the Going to the Sun Road, you do not have to hope to get a road reservation to use the Going to the Sun Road.
On the negative side this campground is right next to the busy Sun road and so you have to listen to cars zipping by at all hours of the day and night making it hard to get to sleep when you are in a tent. Also, some of the sites are very close together, my tent was less than 6 ft from the one at the next site, so I hope you enjoy hearing every word of your neighbors conversations.

Great location, sites are good size, it was very hard to make a reservation and unfortunately some site were empty even though weren’t available. I wish the host would report and cancel those who didn’t come so people who needed to stay have the opportunity. Site 13 is by the lake with the steep slope
