A25 was leveled with a standard picnic table and bear locker. Liked the accessibility to be able walk to the Trail of the Cedars. Be prepared for a long walk to the restroom.

Isolated camping spot. Lots of tree coverage so it felt darker in the morning/evening. Short walk to the bathroom and right next to a water spout.

Clean, quiet. Nice sites with plenty of room. Great to be right next to Avalanche Lake trail - that's an excellent hike. Good base to explore the entire park. This campground is just before the restrictions on vehicles on the road begin, so is the most central location for your mobile base (trailer) coming from the west entrance. Staff (camp hosts) were very nice when we finally caught up with them on our last day. When we arrived to check in there was just a sign saying they were out and would come around and catch up with us later. That didn't happen because we were out exploring the park, but we saw them on the last day and got officially checked in.

Nice scenic campground. Clean bathrooms. It's at the trailhead for the popular hikes Trail of the Cedars and Avalanche Lake.

Great site! Campground host was so helpful. The bathroom did not have any lights. Walking distance from trail of the cedars and Avalanche Lake trailheads which was so helpful not to worry about parking for these popular trails! Also close to going to the sun road and Lake McDonald lodge.

In loop B the campsites are smaller, would have preferred loop A. No light in bathrooms was awkward. Location was very good, though, for hiking in area. Parking for trailheads otherwise would have been very difficult due to crowds.

West Side Entrance
- West Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of West Glacier (approximately 33 mi (32.9 mi) from Kalispell).
- West Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 2 west to the town of West Glacier.
East Side Entrance
- St. Mary Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of Browning (approx. 83 mi/83.3 mi). At the traffic circle, exit onto Hwy 89 north and continue for another 30 mi (29.8 mi). Follow the signage to the St. Mary Visitor Center / Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- St. Mary Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 89 north to Going-to-the-Sun Road.
Highway access
Avalanche Campground is accessible via Highway 2, which runs east to west near the park, providing access from both Columbia Falls and Browning. The west entrance is reached by taking Highway 2 to West Glacier, while the east entrance can be accessed via Highway 89 from Browning.

Policies & Rules
General
- Food storage regulations are strictly enforced. Grizzly and black bears frequent the area. When not in immediate use, all food, beverages, coolers, cooking utensils, pet food, or other attractants must be kept in a closed, hard-sided vehicle or secured in bear proof storage lockers near campground restrooms.
- Vehicle length limits. Vehicle and vehicle combinations longer than 21 feet (6.5 m) or wider than 8 feet (2.4 m) including mirrors are prohibited between the Sun Point parking area and Avalanche Campground.
- Maximum Stay. Campground length of stay is limited to 14 days.
- Noise must be kept to a low level that does not disturb other campers. Generator use in campgrounds is permitted only during the following times: 8 am to 10 a.m., noon to 2 p.m., or 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Fire Rings Only. Campsites contain fire rings but do not have fire grates for grilling/ food preparation.
- Hammocks. Hammocks must be hung over non vegetated areas using one inch straps or wider. Vegetation may not be trampled to access hammocks.
- Maximum Number of Tents. Campsites allow a maximum of 2 tents per site.
- No Firewood Collection. Firewood collection is prohibited within Avalanche Campground.
- Renting an RV or trailer? Per 36 CFR 5.3, commercial business may not take place inside Glacier National Park. This includes RVs and trailers being delivered within Glacier's boundaries. Renters of these must drive them in themselves.
