On the plus side this is near Lake McDonald Lodge and its amenities and because it is inside the reservation area for the Going to the Sun Road, you do not have to hope to get a road reservation to use the Going to the Sun Road.
On the negative side this campground is right next to the busy Sun road and so you have to listen to cars zipping by at all hours of the day and night making it hard to get to sleep when you are in a tent. Also, some of the sites are very close together, my tent was less than 6 feet from the one at the next site, so I hope you enjoy hearing every word of your neighbors conversations.

Great location, sites are good size, it was very hard to make a reservation and unfortunately some site were empty even though weren’t available. I wish the host would report and cancel those who didn’t come so people who needed to stay have the opportunity. Site 13 is by the lake with the steep slope

This campsite is perfect if you REALLY like your neighbors - there was a stump between the campsites, so now you can see your neighbors and everything they do. The bugs went crazy - I had 50 bites, unfortunately not an exaggeration. Overworked camp host and close proximity of our neighbors means we won't be back to this campground anytime soon!

Went to Russel’s Fireside Dining room for an awesome burger then came back and spent 4 hours paddle boarding on the lake. Absolutely gorgeous campground and it’s directly beside the lake! Smaller campground so it’s nice and quiet/secluded. Would definitely recommend!!

Close to Lake MacDonald. Can access from site! Sites are close so very little privacy. Very close to Road to the Sun which is surprisingly busy during the night. Expect to hear road noise.
The camp host was wonderful. Made you feel welcome and straight forward with campground rules.

Very nice campground! Good location with lake access down a few steps. Our site (10) had good shade and a view of the lake. You can hear the road noise even at the lakeside campsites, so that's the only downside.

Sites are kinda close to each other. Running water in bathrooms but no hot water or showers were available.

Sprague Creek Campground has multiple entry points on the east and west side of the park.
West Side
- West Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of West Glacier (approximately 33 miles/53 km from Kalispell).
- West Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 2 west to the town of West Glacier.
East Side
- St. Mary Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of Browning (approx. 83 miles/134 km). At the traffic circle, exit onto Hwy 89 north and continue for another 30 miles (48 km). Follow the signage to the St. Mary Visitor Center / Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- St. Mary Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 89 north to Going-to-the-Sun Road.
Sprague Creek Campground is accessible via Highway 2, which connects to the west entrance at West Glacier and the east entrance at St. Mary. Highway 89 also provides access from Browning to the St. Mary Entrance.

Policies & Rules
General
- RV Maximum Length in the Campground. The maximum size limit allowed for all vehicles as well as combinations of vehicles and towed units in Sprague Creek Campground is 21 feet in length (including bumpers) and/or 8 feet in width (including mirrors).
- Vehicle length limits along Going-to-the-Sun Road. Vehicle and vehicle combinations longer than 21 feet (6.4 m) or wider than 8 feet (2.4 m) including mirrors are prohibited between the Sun Point parking area and Avalanche Campground on Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- Generator use is prohibited at all times in this campground.
- Food Storage and Wildlife. Grizzly and black bears frequent the area; food storage regulations strictly enforced; when not in immediate use, all food, beverages, coolers, cooking utensils, pet food, or other attractants must be kept in a closed, hard-sided vehicle or secured in bear proof storage lockers near campground restrooms.
- The maximum length of stay is 14 days.
- Fire Rings Only. Camp sites contain fire rings but do not have fire grates for grilling/ food preparation.
- Hammocks. Hammocks must be hung over non vegetated areas using one inch straps or wider. Vegetation may not be trampled to access hammocks.
- Maximum Number of Tents. Campsites allow a maximum of 2 tents per site.
- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood within the same county in which you plan to camp. Moving firewood is illegal in some states.
- Per 36 CFR 5.3, commercial business may not take place inside Glacier National Park. This includes RVs and trailers being delivered within Glacier's boundaries. Renters of these must drive them in themselves.
