The location is excellent for trips into glacier, the access to the lake and beach is wonderful and it was not nearly as buggy as some places we stayed in Glacier. Even the camp attendand Ed provided valuable updates and directions for our camping trips. Note that for Verizon at least we would have one bar but never actually got any signal in or out.
Also, most camps are beautiful, but camp 11 which we had for the second half the trip is on a slant and right next to the bathrooms with a much smaller tent base, avoid that spot if you can.

Very cool campground. People walk thru your site. Beautiful lake and access. Bear are there! No trailers and seemed to be an easy option for the GTTSR and a base. #12 is good.

Campground was excellent. It was quiet and more remote than other options which we preferred. Beautiful views of the lake and access for paddle boarding. Bathrooms were clean and staff friendly.

Ed, the camp host, was one of the friendliest, most helpful people we’ve ever met. Not only the best camp host we’ve ever had but the best host we can imagine. The lake was also gorgeous and the campground was lovely!

By far our favorite campsite in the park!! Ed, the campsite host, was incredibly helpful and such an excellent welcome to the park. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, easy access to the lake, and the running water in the bathrooms (plus the potable water pump right outside our campsite). Most sites had ample shade and gravel tent pads. Top on our lists for a return visit!

The campground itself is very good, However the booking procedure is not at all and the scan did not activate on arrival. All other accommodation in Glacier was full that night and to not know if you could stay the night until you arrived is far from ideal. Generally I think the restrictions on bookings in Glacier could be improved especially as tourists are not able to get wifi for alot of areas to assist with bookings. (we had been in Yellowstone previous to this and it was far easier)

Beautiful location on the Lake McDonald shore and minutes from McDonald village. Very convenient to many trails that the shuttles don’t stop at. The campground is well maintained and supervised to ensure everyone is safe and is ensured a pleasant experience. Only one group attempted a late night, underaged drinking party disturbing the campground but the campground host shut it down quickly without push back. The man has skills!

This campsite was in a beautiful location. The cleanest bathrooms I have seen. The creek spots were amazing.

Sprague Creek Campground has multiple entry points on the east and west side of the park.
West Side
- West Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of West Glacier (approximately 33 miles/53 km from Kalispell).
- West Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 2 west to the town of West Glacier.
East Side
- St. Mary Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of Browning (approx. 83 miles/134 km). At the traffic circle, exit onto Hwy 89 north and continue for another 30 miles (48 km). Follow the signage to the St. Mary Visitor Center / Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- St. Mary Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 89 north to Going-to-the-Sun Road.
Sprague Creek Campground is accessible via Highway 2, which connects to the west entrance at West Glacier and the east entrance at St. Mary. Highway 89 also provides access from Browning to the St. Mary Entrance.

Policies & Rules
General
- RV Maximum Length in the Campground. The maximum size limit allowed for all vehicles as well as combinations of vehicles and towed units in Sprague Creek Campground is 21 feet in length (including bumpers) and/or 8 feet in width (including mirrors).
- Vehicle length limits along Going-to-the-Sun Road. Vehicle and vehicle combinations longer than 21 feet (6.4 m) or wider than 8 feet (2.4 m) including mirrors are prohibited between the Sun Point parking area and Avalanche Campground on Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- Generator use is prohibited at all times in this campground.
- Food Storage and Wildlife. Grizzly and black bears frequent the area; food storage regulations strictly enforced; when not in immediate use, all food, beverages, coolers, cooking utensils, pet food, or other attractants must be kept in a closed, hard-sided vehicle or secured in bear proof storage lockers near campground restrooms.
- The maximum length of stay is 14 days.
- Fire Rings Only. Camp sites contain fire rings but do not have fire grates for grilling/ food preparation.
- Hammocks. Hammocks must be hung over non vegetated areas using one inch straps or wider. Vegetation may not be trampled to access hammocks.
- Maximum Number of Tents. Campsites allow a maximum of 2 tents per site.
- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood within the same county in which you plan to camp. Moving firewood is illegal in some states.
- Per 36 CFR 5.3, commercial business may not take place inside Glacier National Park. This includes RVs and trailers being delivered within Glacier's boundaries. Renters of these must drive them in themselves.
