It’s the perfect campground at Glacier. Is small and not a lot of people. Been camping here for several times now. Will continue be coming here.

The campground was quiet, the host friendly and helpful, and the easy access to Lake McDonald for morning and afternoon swimming and sunset viewing was amazing.

The worst campground experience I’ve ever had. The amenities in the campground are very nice and the camp host was wonderful but those couldn’t overcome the horrific location of the campground which is situated feet off of a major highway and results in deafening car noise all night. The spaces are all very small so there’s no space or trees between campsites. And to cap it all off, you can access Lake MacDonald directly from the campground, which should be a huge positive. However we went swimming shortly after arriving and after our plunge began to itch horribly. Turns out the lake is now warm enough that it’s full of the parasite that causes swimmers itch.
The campground was so bad we bailed on our second night (forfeited the $ already paid) to move to another campground that was more in the woods.

Small camper ground with direct access to lake McDonald. A beautiful spot for a refreshing swim, paddle board or sunset. The campground is right off the road but it was not very noisy overnight in our tent.

Beautiful location on the Lake McDonald shore and minutes from McDonald village. Very convenient to many trails that the shuttles don’t stop at. The campground is well maintained and supervised to ensure everyone is safe and is ensured a pleasant experience. Only one group attempted a late night, underaged drinking party disturbing the campground but the campground host shut it down quickly without push back. The man has skills!

By far our favorite campsite in the park!! Ed, the campsite host, was incredibly helpful and such an excellent welcome to the park. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, easy access to the lake, and the running water in the bathrooms (plus the potable water pump right outside our campsite). Most sites had ample shade and gravel tent pads. Top on our lists for a return visit!

Ed, the camp host, was one of the friendliest, most helpful people we’ve ever met. Not only the best camp host we’ve ever had but the best host we can imagine. The lake was also gorgeous and the campground was lovely!

Campground was excellent. It was quiet and more remote than other options which we preferred. Beautiful views of the lake and access for paddle boarding. Bathrooms were clean and staff friendly.

Very cool campground. People walk thru your site. Beautiful lake and access. Bear are there! No trailers and seemed to be an easy option for the GTTSR and a base. #12 is good.

Sprague Creek Campground has multiple entry points on the east and west side of the park.
West Side
- West Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of West Glacier (approximately 33 miles/53 km from Kalispell).
- West Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 2 west to the town of West Glacier.
East Side
- St. Mary Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of Browning (approx. 83 miles/134 km). At the traffic circle, exit onto Hwy 89 north and continue for another 30 miles (48 km). Follow the signage to the St. Mary Visitor Center / Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- St. Mary Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 89 north to Going-to-the-Sun Road.
Sprague Creek Campground is accessible via Highway 2, which connects to the west entrance at West Glacier and the east entrance at St. Mary. Highway 89 also provides access from Browning to the St. Mary Entrance.

Policies & Rules
General
- RV Maximum Length in the Campground. The maximum size limit allowed for all vehicles as well as combinations of vehicles and towed units in Sprague Creek Campground is 21 feet in length (including bumpers) and/or 8 feet in width (including mirrors).
- Vehicle length limits along Going-to-the-Sun Road. Vehicle and vehicle combinations longer than 21 feet (6.4 m) or wider than 8 feet (2.4 m) including mirrors are prohibited between the Sun Point parking area and Avalanche Campground on Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- Generator use is prohibited at all times in this campground.
- Food Storage and Wildlife. Grizzly and black bears frequent the area; food storage regulations strictly enforced; when not in immediate use, all food, beverages, coolers, cooking utensils, pet food, or other attractants must be kept in a closed, hard-sided vehicle or secured in bear proof storage lockers near campground restrooms.
- The maximum length of stay is 14 days.
- Fire Rings Only. Camp sites contain fire rings but do not have fire grates for grilling/ food preparation.
- Hammocks. Hammocks must be hung over non vegetated areas using one inch straps or wider. Vegetation may not be trampled to access hammocks.
- Maximum Number of Tents. Campsites allow a maximum of 2 tents per site.
- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood within the same county in which you plan to camp. Moving firewood is illegal in some states.
- Per 36 CFR 5.3, commercial business may not take place inside Glacier National Park. This includes RVs and trailers being delivered within Glacier's boundaries. Renters of these must drive them in themselves.
