The location is excellent for trips into glacier, the access to the lake and beach is wonderful and it was not nearly as buggy as some places we stayed in Glacier. Even the camp attendand Ed provided valuable updates and directions for our camping trips. Note that for Verizon at least we would have one bar but never actually got any signal in or out.
Also, most camps are beautiful, but camp 11 which we had for the second half the trip is on a slant and right next to the bathrooms with a much smaller tent base, avoid that spot if you can.

This was our favorite campground on the west side of the park. The camp host, ED was just a joy, can't wait to come back!

The absolute best campground host I have ever come across. Ed is such skilled at his craft that he can’t help but stand out. He is polite, and extremely effective. He keeps his guests and visitors in check with quick wit and direct communication. I especially liked the cone for reducing random Looky Lou’s from driving through and relatively tight campground. Ed is so diligent that he misses nothing. He’s seems to be able to educate and communicate with people of all walks of life.

Great location beside Lake MacDonald. Nice boat launch on the picnic side. Plenty of shade throughout with sun peaking through but moving quickly across the campsite. Plenty of fresh water spigots but not many bear boxes for food storage requiring campsites to share. Traffic is noticeable throughout the day as the campground is next to the main road. But, it's not a deal breaker due to location and no generators allowed. We tent camped with two 10'x10' footprint tents. We had plenty of room.

This was our favorite campground on the west side of the park. ED is an absolute treasure. We will definitely be back!

We especially appreciated the warm, friendly welcome from Ed, the campsite host, the quiet, secluded tent sites and flush toilets. All of that outweighed the only drawback which was some traffic noise from the adjacent Going-to-the-Sun road.

Sprague Creek Campground has multiple entry points on the east and west side of the park.
West Side
- West Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of West Glacier (approximately 33 miles/53 km from Kalispell).
- West Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 2 west to the town of West Glacier.
East Side
- St. Mary Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of Browning (approx. 83 miles/134 km). At the traffic circle, exit onto Hwy 89 north and continue for another 30 miles (48 km). Follow the signage to the St. Mary Visitor Center / Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- St. Mary Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 89 north to Going-to-the-Sun Road.
Sprague Creek Campground is accessible via Highway 2, which connects to the west entrance at West Glacier and the east entrance at St. Mary. Highway 89 also provides access from Browning to the St. Mary Entrance.

Policies & Rules
General
- RV Maximum Length in the Campground. The maximum size limit allowed for all vehicles as well as combinations of vehicles and towed units in Sprague Creek Campground is 21 feet in length (including bumpers) and/or 8 feet in width (including mirrors).
- Vehicle length limits along Going-to-the-Sun Road. Vehicle and vehicle combinations longer than 21 feet (6.4 m) or wider than 8 feet (2.4 m) including mirrors are prohibited between the Sun Point parking area and Avalanche Campground on Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- Generator use is prohibited at all times in this campground.
- Food Storage and Wildlife. Grizzly and black bears frequent the area; food storage regulations strictly enforced; when not in immediate use, all food, beverages, coolers, cooking utensils, pet food, or other attractants must be kept in a closed, hard-sided vehicle or secured in bear proof storage lockers near campground restrooms.
- The maximum length of stay is 14 days.
- Fire Rings Only. Camp sites contain fire rings but do not have fire grates for grilling/ food preparation.
- Hammocks. Hammocks must be hung over non vegetated areas using one inch straps or wider. Vegetation may not be trampled to access hammocks.
- Maximum Number of Tents. Campsites allow a maximum of 2 tents per site.
- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood within the same county in which you plan to camp. Moving firewood is illegal in some states.
- Per 36 CFR 5.3, commercial business may not take place inside Glacier National Park. This includes RVs and trailers being delivered within Glacier's boundaries. Renters of these must drive them in themselves.
